MYC Night at UW Space Place
Want to expand the connections we're making between science and music? Want to do a little "inquiry" about the night sky?

Join us on Wednesday, November 11, from 7PM to 8PM, for a very special MYC-only evening at the UW Space Place. Due to the generosity of MYC alum parent and UW Space Place Director, Jim Lattis, MYC families will have the opportunity to explore the Space Place and get a guided tour of the evening skies.

FREE and open to any MYC family but a reservation is required by Friday, 11/6. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. (Please sign up only if you are certain you will attend!)

The final opportunity for a drop-in boychoir wardrobe fitting is this Monday, November 2, 3:00-5:00pm. Thank you for making this a priority and arriving early to avoid the 5pm bottleneck. Because the space is needed for rehearsal, we will not begin any fittings after 4:50pm.

All wardrobe pieces you have outgrown should be returned to MYC as soon as possible. (This means you should try everything on!)

Wardrobe Help
We need your help with the boychoir fittings! Please lend a hand and make our day! You don't need to be a boychoir family to volunteer--click the button below to see all your options.

Final Tuition Payments Due November 9
Families with a tuition balance will be receiving their MYC tuition statement by email in the next few days. Tuition is due in full by Monday, November 9. Payments may be dropped in the Big Red Box at rehearsals or mailed to the MYC office. Thank you for your timely payments!

Auditions for New Singers
Do you know someone wishing to join MYC for the second half of our season beginning in January? Please tell them about our mid-season auditions on Wednesday, November 18! Auditions are open to singers in 5th - 12th grade and reservations can be made via the link on our Join A Choir page.

Spring Introductory Choir
For students ages 7-10, new sessions of introductory choir begin mid-February and registration is now open on our website under the Join A Choir tab. Completing introductory choir is the first step toward joining a year-long choir for singers this age.

Poinsettias
We have just over one more week to gather our initial orders for the first round of deliveries in early December. Please submit your individual and business orders by Monday, November 9. If you need help getting started, MYC retains sales information from past years and will gladly pass along former singer leads to interested families. Businesses you frequent, friends, neighbors and co-workers will be interested in these high-quality plants!

Fruit Sale Returns! (And a Quick Fundraising Note)
Back by popular demand, the MYC fruit sale will kick-off next week with delivery scheduled for Saturday morning, December 12! We will have all the details in the Weekly Notes and on our website next week.

Quick Fundraising Note
Each MYC family has a fundraising contribution goal of $200 each season. (Progress is recorded on your tuition statement.) While not required, family fundraising is essential as it bridges the gap between the actual cost of our program per singer and the tuition charged.

MYC offers several fundraising opportunities through March, 2016, for families to reach their goal. You can participate in as many or as few as you wish or you can simply make a donation by submitting a check toward your fundraising goal:
  • Coffee orders are collected on a monthly basis earning $5/$2/unit for coffee and tea respectively;
  • poinsettias will be on sale until our stock is sold and each plant earns $5;
  • the fruit sale begins next week and each box sold earns $10 toward your goal;
  • volunteering at festivals (like Madison Marathon) earns participants $8-9/hour

In January, singers will be invited to join their ensembles, MYC staff and board members in our direct-donation (and final for the season) fundraising campaign, It's MYChoir

Our Handbook is a great resource if you have questions about fundraising (or anything MYC-related). Use the link in the header or visit our website.

November Coffee Orders
November orders are due Thursday, November 5.

Madison Marathon Fundraising Opportunity
Volunteering with Madison Festivals for the Madison Marathon, November 6-8, earns $9/hour toward your Family Fundraising Contribution Goal. There are a variety of ways to contribute your time and recruiting friends and multiple family members to work with you increases the total dollars you will earn toward your goal. Check out the list of jobs available and sign up by clicking the button below (be sure to choose Madison Youth Choirs as your charity when you register).
