Dear --FNAME--,

Fall is in the air! It’s a great time to explore the marsh to observe the beautiful fall foliage and critters preparing for winter. See if you can spot (or hear!) some returning winter birds, such as the White-throated Sparrow or Dark-eyed Junco. We would love to see you at Millbrook Marsh!

Fall Foliage Walk
& Kohl's Volunteers

We had a wonderful day Sunday, October 16th during the Fall Foliage Walk! It was great to see everyone enjoying the fall colors and beautiful weather while learning about seasonal changes. Special thanks to the Kohl’s volunteers and Penn State Recreation, Parks and Tourism Management students who helped make it fantastic day!
Peak Leaf Viewing Map!

The best time for leaf-peeping is now! Due to the decreasing amount of sunlight as the days shorten, like animals, leaves prepare for winter. As chlorophyll breaks down it reveals the carotenoids (yellows, oranges and browns) left behind. During years where there is an abundance of sunny days and cool nights the anthocyanins (reds) appear, although some species such as the Red Maple are rich in anthocyanins, always appearing red in the fall. PA DCNR Forestry outlined the best times to view fall foliage in Pennsylvania in the map above. Happy peeping!
