Whether it is the earth and heavens, human life, transformation of the human spirit, or preparation for eternity at earthly life’s end, God is always forming new life!
Photos of galaxies always startle me. That’s not only because they are beautiful and vast, but because they appear so similar to the formation of a child in the womb. Like me, perhaps you have wondered, “What is God forming out there in space?” “What will it be when He finishes?”

Many years ago Presbyterians Pro-Life caught a vision for Shepherding Homes. We organized an effort called “Care Churches.” Churches and individuals willing to offer support and housing to a woman who was pregnant and in need responded to PPL and a list of such churches remains on our database today. It’s a much needed ministry as this article from Amy Scherschligt of Fair Oaks Evangelical Presbyterian Church shows. Read her letter about the need in Sacramento County.
The Shortage of Housing for Homeless and Displaced Pregnant Women in Sacramento County
Our Biblical Mandate: "Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked." Psalm 82:3,4 "If this (maternity) home had not been here, my baby would be dead." So said a 19-year-old pregnant woman in 2004. She was the adopted daughter of a pastor and his wife. She is now married and raising multiple children.

Lessons from History
The Early Church & Women’s Rights
Excerpt from Christianity Today, June 15, 1998, “The Early Church’s Health Plan”.
Women’s rights. Women greatly outnumbered men among early converts. However, in the empire men vastly outnumbered women because of female infanticide. “If you are delivered of a child,” wrote a man name Hilarion to his pregnant wife, “if it is a boy, keep it, if it is a girl, discard it.” Frequent abortions “entailing great risk” (in the words of Celsus) killed many women and left even more barren. Christians, however, practiced neither abortion nor infanticide and thus attracted women.
