to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of
Centre Region Parks & Recreation.
Please join us for a brief ceremony to formally celebrate 50 years of outstanding municipal cooperation for parks and recreation services by the Borough of State College and the Townships of College, Ferguson, Harris and Patton. At the ceremony, three awards will be presented to the Centre Region COG and the CRPR Authority that demonstrate the ongoing success of these regional efforts.

- Senior officials of the PA Dept. of Conservation & Natural Resources and the PA Recreation & Parks Society will present their "2016 Green Park Award" to the COG Chair and the CRPR Authority Chair for the success of Millbrook Marsh Nature Center in demonstrating the integration of green and sustainable park practices. A newly-planted tree at the nature center will be dedicated by PA DCNR in honor of this special designation. The 62-acre nature center was established by the COG, Penn State University and the ClearWater Conservancy in 1997.
Senior officials of the PA Dept. of Community & Economic Development will present the “2016 Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence - Intergovernmental Cooperation” to the COG Chair and the CRPR Authority Chair for providing 50 years of cooperative parks and recreation services to the Centre Region.
- The Centre County Recycling & Refuse Authority will recognize the CRPR Authority as a "2016 Green Business Partner" as a result of the successful efforts to promote recycling at the local parks and swimming pools.
Light refreshments will follow.
The outdoor ceremony will move indoors in the case of inclement weather.
