This Weekend With MYC
Ragazzi and Cantabile Snow Goose Rehearsal at Monroe Arts Center:
  • Bus departs Westgate for Monroe at 1pm on Sunday
  • You do NOT need your concert attire for this rehearsal
  • Please bring your Snow Goose music and your black binder
  • Bus returns to Westgate at 6pm and you are done for the evening at that time

If you need to report an absence or late arrival, please complete the online absence form linked in the header section above. As a safety measure, if your singer is not checked in at rehearsal and we have not heard they will be absent, we will call you to verify the absence. The best way to reach us during rehearsals is via the MYC cell phone: 608-770-7464.

Keep reading for all the details you need to know!
Our family has found the MYChoir campaign to be one of the more convenient and approachable ways to meet our fundraising goals.

It's not too late to start!
Read through the information packet, follow the steps and you'll see how easy it is.

Reminders for this week:
As a way to celebrate our collective efforts, we will continue to collect purple participation slips at rehearsals throughout the campaign.

As you begin to receive responses, please keep your donations organized and with you until turn-in day on March 26/27.

Record each donation on your tracking sheet: both those made by check and those made via the electronic form. (If you are wondering whether an electronic donation has been made, feel free to contact us.) Remember: every donation made by check requires a completed donor record form.

Need more supplies? Check out the It's MYChoir table at rehearsals or print your own from the It's MYChoir page on our website (under the Members tab). Also on this page: a detailed list of local companies who match charitable gifts.

Say thank you! This is so important! MYC is also providing a thank you along with a receipt but a note from you is the most meaningful.

Remember: the first measure of participation is sharing your MYC story with at least one person outside of your immediate family. Our goal is 100% participation! Just like in rehearsal, every voice matters and your participation is key.
I am humbled and grateful that friends and family have been thrilled to support our daughter's life and thank us for including them.  Even long-distance relatives who aren't able to attend an MYC concert (or benefit from fruit, poinsettias, coffee, etc) are excited for the opportunity to participate in this campaign.

It's MYChoir (IMC) is both a fundraising campaign and an opportunity for members and staff to share with the wider community the importance of music education and the benefits it provides. Because tuition alone covers less than 50% of the total cost of each singer's enrollment, fundraising is a necessary part of MYC membership. We count on families to fully participate and meet their $200 family fundraising goal each year to help cover the tuition gap.

Thank you for participating!
Heartland Youth Choir Visits in June
The Heartland Youth Choir from Des Moines, Iowa will perform an evening concert on Tuesday, June 13, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Middleton. Con Gioia will be joining them in song and we are looking forward to an amazing night of music and new friendships!

Con Gioia: Please check your calendars and let us know via the absence form if you have a conflict.

Would you like to host singers from the Heartland Youth Choir? We are in need of families to provide home stays for 58 singers (21 boys and 37 girls in 5th through 8th grade) following the concert through breakfast on Wednesday morning. Please consider opening your home to host two or more singers overnight on Tuesday, June 13.

All MYC families are invited to host!

Questions? Please contact Lisa at lkjentvet@madisonyouthchoirs.org. Thanks!
Special Invitation to Capriccio, Cantilena, Cantabile, Britten and Holst Trebles
We are looking for treble singers from these ensembles to participate in a great project with our good friends at Opera for the Young. This amazing organization presents shortened versions of classic operas (sung in English with the stories given a modern "twist").

Opera for the Young sends teaching materials and a tutorial CD to schools prior to their performances each year. We have been asked to record the choruses for the tutorial CD for next season's tour of Rusalka. We are looking for a group of singers who can commit to two rehearsals and the recording day. Here are the details:

Rehearsals at Westgate Studios (Studio 4)
Tuesday, April 25, 6:15-7:30pm
Tuesday, May 2, 6:15-7:30pm

Recording Date (Location TBD)
Saturday, May 6, 1:00PM - 2:30PM

Please RSVP by Monday, March 27, to Lisa Kjentvet with your singer's name and choir if you are interested and available for both rehearsals and the recording date. We may not have room for every singer that volunteers and will build the roster based on the needs of Opera for the Young. Once you volunteer we assume you have checked the dates and can commit to 100% participation. Lisa will confirm each participant once the list is final--thank you for your patience!
The Snow Goose at Monroe Arts Center
On Sunday, March 19, Cantabile and Ragazzi will premiere a musical score written by composer Scott Gendel, to accompany the dramatic reading of Paul Gallico's The Snow Goose: A Story of Dunkirk by professional actor Richard Hilger. Hilger and the choirs will be joined by a chamber ensemble of oboe, cello, piano, and percussion.

This has been a semester-long project for Cantabile and Ragazzi and this premiere event is not to be missed!

  • acting as MYC ambassadors with schools, neighborhoods, etc.

Our next meeting will be held at 7pm on Thursday, March 23, at Sequoya Branch Library in Meeting Room B. All are welcome to attend!
