Dear MYC Families,

On behalf of of all of us at Madison Youth Choirs, welcome to another wonderful season! It is always with great excitement that we greet this time of year. Welcoming the return of so many familiar, smiling faces and greeting new ones is a delight and a privilege. We’re glad you’re part of this special community!

I'm writing today to discuss a part of the organization that, while not particularly flashy, is extremely necessary: the family fundraising goal. As you are aware, we ask each family to work on behalf of MYC to raise $200 during each year with MYC. While this is not strictly a requirement, it is a necessary source of income in MYC's budget. We--board and staff together--have worked hard to not raise tuition. In fact, though our annual budget has increased by more than 25% since 2012, tuition has not increased during that time, due in large part to family fundraising. Family fundraising, at 15% of our budget, is a significant piece of our financial picture.

So how can the fundraising goal be reached? We provide a variety of options to accommodate your schedule and interests:

  • Volunteer on behalf of MYC at events around Madison: Brat Fest, Madison Marathon, Taste of Madison
  • Sell products on behalf of MYC: coffee, fruit, poinsettias
  • Spread the MYC mission and advocate for us in the form of direct donations to the It's MYChoir campaign in January
  • Simply write a check for some or all of the goal (any direct donation is tax-deductible)

Throughout the year, fundraising opportunities are highlighted in the Weekly Notes and progress toward your goal is tracked on your member statement so you know exactly where you stand.

If you have questions or concerns about any of this, I encourage you to reach out to me at board@madisonyouthchoirs.org or contact a member of the staff. We welcome and value your input.

Again, on behalf of all of us at MYC, I want to express my sincere gratitude for all that you do to support your singer’s participation. In addition to your financial commitment, you give of yourself and your family so much more: time, transportation, and beyond. By making these contributions you enable us to continue making MYC a place for kids to learn much more than singing. The experiences gleaned from time with MYC, its conductors, its staff, and other singers help shape their futures. I wouldn't be where I am today without my time with MYC.

Thank you for reading and for all you do to make MYC a great place for all.

Sincerely,
Dan Sinclair
