A big look at the Small Catechism.
In October, Living Lutheran shares a reprint of ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton’s column from July 2014. Just as she did at the 2016 Churchwide Assembly, Eaton encourages people to “dust off” their Small Catechism and take another look at the basics of our faith as we near the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Read her column here!

Cross+Gen Ministry is a Mindset!!!
The Cross+Gen ministry conference in Estes Park, CO was a great event!! Much information was shared from Pastors and lay leaders that have been working towards and doing Cross+Gen ministry in their settings. A few main points taken from the conference #crossgen16:
  • Cross+gen ministry is NOT a program but a mindset!!
  • The wisdom of the elder and the wonder of the child are both needed to help each other grow in faith!
  • Everyone's story can help others know Christ!
  • Lessons with no pictures give 10% retention at 72 hours. Lessons with pictures have 65% retention at 72 hours. @RICHMELHEIM #CrossGen16
  • Play opens up a space for us to connect with the deepest human being God created. - Jen Rome #CrossGen16
  • "if the child is not learning the way you are teaching, teach in the way the child Kearns." - Rita Dunn #crossgen16
  • .....and oh, so much more!!! If you'd like to know more you can contact Lynn at the WIS Mission Center. We are hopeful to have a Cross+Gen event in our area in the next year!!

Tackle A Habit — Exercise Edition - Portico
Use This Plan To Take One Exercise-Related Small Step.
Week One
Consider the exercise-related habits (described below) then, choose one you're …um …familiar with. Use the Mayo Clinic links provided to read up on information related to the habit you want to break. Purchase equipment (if appropriate) to support your commitment. Then, pick your start date, and steel your resolve to tackle your habit every day — for one week. During the week, notice what's hard, what's not, what supported you, what didn't, how you might continue beyond your week. Take notes on your calendar. Next three weeks and choose your habit here!
