Keep reading for all the details you need to know!

It's Turn-In Weekend!
All singers! Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before your rehearsal to turn in your It's MYChoir packet.

How to Organize Your Packet BEFORE You Arrive:
1. Record every donation on your tracking form, including those made online.
2. A completed Donor Record Form is required for every donation made by check or cash. (Online donations just need to be recorded on the tracking form--donor information has already been provided).
3. Make sure your name is also included on each Donor Record Form and on your Tracking Sheet.
4. Please write a check for the total of all cash donations. (Please do NOT turn in cash.)
5. ALL checks should be made payable to Madison Youth Choirs or MYC.
6. Stack each check with its corresponding Donor Record Form (please do not staple) along with your Tracking Sheet. We want to be able to see very quickly that you have a Donor Record Form for each donation made by check so please keep these two items together.

We will be ready to start collecting packets as early as 3:30pm on Sunday and 5:00pm on Monday. Please turn in your packet before your rehearsal begins. We will end collection on Sunday at 7pm and on Monday at 7:15pm.

What if I'm absent and I've collected donations?
If you want your donations to count toward individual and ensemble awards, please turn them in no later than Monday, April 9.

What if I got a late start and won't have all my donations collected by this weekend?
Turn in what you have collected by Monday, April 9, and it will count toward your ensemble's total and participation goal. Donations turned in after April 9, will be gratefully accepted but won't count toward individual or ensemble totals. (Can we just say, though, that if you got a late start we applaud--with a standing ovation--your decision to participate. Thank you!)

Need more supplies? Check out the It's MYChoir table at rehearsals or print your own from the It's MYChoir page on our website (under the Members tab).

Say thank you! This is so important! MYC is also providing a thank you along with a receipt but a note from you is the most meaningful.

Remember: the first measure of participation is sharing your MYC story with at least one person outside of your immediate family. Our goal is 100% participation! Just like in rehearsal, every voice matters and your participation is key. (Capriccio is currently leading...with Choraliers in a close second followed by Con Gioia.)

Not sure whether to use a letter, email or Facebook appeal?
Consider your audience. You know them best.

Thank you for participating!
_________________________________________________________________
It's MYChoir (IMC) is both a fundraising campaign and an opportunity for members and staff to share with the wider community the importance of music education and the benefits it provides. Because tuition alone covers less than 50% of the total cost of each singer's enrollment, fundraising is a necessary part of MYC membership. We count on families to fully participate and meet their $200 family fundraising goal each year to help cover the tuition gap.

Con Gioia: Saturday, April 28

We're excited for Con Gioia singers to be able to participate in an incredible collaboration this spring!

MYC and Mt. Zion Baptist Church's youth choir (led by our good friends Leotha and Tamera Stanley, who are well-known to many in the Madison community) will host the CoMUSICation choir from Minnesota. This choir was one of two youth choirs to sing at the Super Bowl this winter!

The details are still somewhat in flux, but here's what we know so far. Please mark your calendar(s) and let us know of any immovable conflicts.

FRIDAY, APRIL 27: MYC will be asking for families to host visiting singers overnight.
SATURDAY, APRIL 28: Late afternoon we'll have a joint rehearsal, social experience, share a meal, and then present an early evening concert together.
SUNDAY, APRIL 29: Interested MYC singers and families are invited to attend Mt. Zion church service where Mt Zion singers, our visiting choir, and MYC singers may sing a joint piece.

Thank you for marking your calendars! Home-stay information along with a sign up will be shared soon.

Special Opportunity: Opera for the Young
We are looking for treble singers in 2nd-5th grade from Choraliers, Con Gioia, Purcell, and Britten to participate in a great project with our good friends at Opera for the Young. This amazing organization presents shortened versions of classic operas (sung in English with the stories given a modern "twist").

Participants will be performing in Opera for the Young's current tour of "Rusalka" at Family Opera Day on June 2. Margaret Jenks will direct a maximum of 16 singers who can commit to two rehearsals and the performance day at Overture Center for the Arts.

Rehearsals at Westgate, Studio 4
Tuesday, May 29, 4:30-6:00pm
Thursday, May 31, 4:30-6:00pm

Performance at Overture Center for the Arts
Saturday, June 2, likely 11:00am - 2:45pm (11:00 rehearsal, 12:45 audience workshop, 1:30 performance)

Please check your calendars and let us know if you are interested and available by replying to Lisa Kjentvet with your singer's name and choir. Once you volunteer we assume you have checked the dates and can commit to 100% participation. We will confirm each participant once the list is final--thank you!

Summer Introductory Choir
Our summer sessions of introductory choir for students ages 7-10, will be offered the week of June 11 and the week of June 18 from 9AM to Noon, Monday through Friday. Registration is now open on our website and will close when each session reaches capacity. Thank you for telling your friends!

Spring Break Reminder
As a reminder, we will NOT be rehearsing Sunday, March 25 and April 1; and Monday, March 26. The boychoir WILL BE rehearsing on Monday, April 2. We recognize that our singers represent nearly every school district in Dane County (and beyond) and therefore understand that your spring break may not coincide with these dates. If you are traveling and will be absent during a regularly scheduled rehearsal in the coming weeks, thank you for letting us know in advance using the online absence form.

The MYC offices will be closed for spring break Monday, March 26 through Friday, March 30.

Run MadTown and Brat Fest Fundraising Opportunities
Both of these events take place Memorial Day Weekend and provide wonderful opportunities to raise money for Madison Youth Choirs (and make advanced progress toward your 2018-19 family fundraising contribution, i.e., NEXT season's goal for singers planning to return.)
