This spring, Madison Youth Choirs singers are sharpening their critical thinking, analytical, and investigative skills as they identify patterns, puzzles, and secret structures in a variety of complex musical compositions by artists including J.S. Bach, Poulenc, Britten, Handel, and more. MYC's Cantabile and Ragazzi choirs will also present excerpts from a world premiere score by Wisconsin-based composer Scott Gendel inspired by the beloved novella The Snow Goose. Please join us as we dive deep into these classical and contemporary choral works, discovering the great rewards of seeking brilliance and beauty wherever they hide.

Following a series of spectacular concerts and collaborations at the 2014 and 2016 Aberdeen International Youth Festival (AIYF), Madison Youth Choirs singers have developed a sterling reputation as outstanding performers and creative colleagues among the international youth arts community. In recognition of our singers' artistic excellence and leadership, AIYF has presented MYC's boychoirs and girlchoirs with advanced invitations to the 2018 and 2020 festivals in Scotland.

We are elated that even more of our singers will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this truly global cultural experience, which in past visits has included joint performances with ensembles from Norway, Indonesia, and Scotland, workshops with Ghanian drummers, and the simple gift of bonding with young musicians from as far away as Israel and China over breakfast. No other event can offer our students such a musically rich and collectively meaningful journey in such a short amount of time, and we can't wait to return to a place that has become our artistic home away from home.
MYC's celebrated Intergenerational Choir, which blends the voices of Madison Youth Choirs singers and senior residents of Capital Lakes Retirement Community, now welcomes alumni of MYC, Madison Children's Choir and Madison Boychoir! We were thrilled to reunite with alumni Emily (Dannemiller) Dimond, Ella (Jarvis) Tschopik, Christy Jenkins, and Eliav Goldman who joined Cantabile, Ragazzi and Capitol Lakes singers at our most recent concert and look forward to sharing this memorable musical experience with even more alums in the future.

Our next Intergenerational Choir session will begin in September 2017 with combined rehearsals set for November 1, 8, and 15 in preparation for a November 18 concert at Capitol Lakes (333 W. Main St, Madison.) If you're an alum interested in joining or learning more about this innovative ensembleplease contact Lisa Kjentvet.
Madison Youth Choirs will be the featured performers in a brand new fall festival at the beautifully remodeled Edgewater Hotel on the shore of Lake Mendota in Madison. All nine MYC performing choirs will have a chance to shine at the festival on Saturday, November 4, 2017 beginning at 2pm. The family-friendly event will include a variety of autumnal treats and arts activities in addition to performances throughout the day. Join us for this great opportunity to introduce over 2,000 guests to our talented singers!
MYC members rose to a great challenge this spring as they engaged in our annual story-driven fundraiser, It's MYChoir, to highlight the myriad benefits of music education and inspire generous support of MYC's choral programs. Our singers, staff, and board members wrote to loved ones far and wide to share how their musical experiences have enriched their lives and encouraged over 500 donors to contribute to this important campaign. Thank you to all who helped us reach this ambitious goal!

If you'd like to join these 500 fabulous folks in further strengthening MYC's ability to offer meaningful and innovative choral programs, you can always make a tax-deductible donation on our website or through the mail to Madison Youth Choirs, P.O. Box 5233, Madison WI 53705.

Our family of community supporters continues to grow and we are especially thankful for the donors and sponsors that allow us to create innovative new programs, expand successful initiatives to serve more young people, and ensure that no student will ever be denied an opportunity at MYC due to their financial circumstances.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the hundreds of individual and organizational contributors who invest in the education of our young singers and the many new and returning concert program advertisers whose businesses help support youth arts in our community.

MYC Legacy Society
Your annual donations to MYC keep our choirs singing throughout the year, but if you would like to make a more permanent investment in the MYC program, we invite you to consider joining the MYC Legacy Society through a planned gift. As state and federal funding of arts education become more uncertain in the years ahead, community support of our programs is essential to the continuation of high quality music opportunities for our young people.
Consider providing a bequest in your will, or enjoy seeing the impact of your generosity through a gift of money, stock or property during your lifetime.
Your gift will be a lasting tribute to your support of the bright, long-term future of MYC. For further information on how to include MYC in your charitable giving plans, please
contact Nicole Sparacino.
