John Aunan, Risk Control Specialist for Church Mutual Insurance will facilitate a two-part workshop on reducing risk. The focus will be on common property hazards and best practices for assessing the physical security of your building; as well as ALICE Intruder Mitigation which provides individuals with preparedness response and skills in the event of an aggressive intruder situation.

Both meetings will be held at the Southeastern Iowa Synod Center for Ministry, 2635 Northgate Drive, Iowa City, Iowa 52245 and are provided at no cost for congregations of the
Southeastern Iowa Synod. Early registration is encouraged.

Save the Date- Lutheran Day on the Hill  
Join Lutherans from all over Iowa on February 25 for a rousing morning of advocacy training, then speak directly with legislators at the Iowa State Capitol in the afternoon. Whether you’re an advocacy pro or you’ve never talked with a legislator, you’ll gain new insights on important Iowa issues and faith-grounded outreach to our policymakers. This event is presented by Lutheran Services in Iowa and the three Iowa Synods of the ELCA. Registration will be open by January 14 at LSIowa.org/LDH.

Live Nativity - Quad Cities
St James Lutheran Church, 1705 Oak Street in Bettendorf, is holding their 6th annual Live Nativity Event on Saturday, December 14 from 4-7 pm. The public is invited to come at any time during this free outdoor event to witness the retelling of the Nativity story complete with actors, live animals, and carolers.  Free soup & dessert supper and crafts for all inside our fellowship hall. They are accepting donations of canned goods for the St James food pantry; hats, mittens, and coats for our sister parish, All Saints of Davenport.
