Jr High Youth Encouraged to Do Something!
Thank you to the eleven congregations from the Western Iowa Synod that sent youth to the Jr High Youth Gathering last weekend at Okoboji Lutheran Bible Camp. Those congregations were from: Emmetsburg, Cherokee, Titonka, George, Kimballton, Titonka, Dunlap, Woden, Manson, Rockwell City, and Ruthven. Check out what your youth were up to here!! The theme for the weekend was "Do Something" based on the theme verse from James 1:22. The synod's LYO youth assisted in the leadership for the weekend!

Congregational Care Class
​Lay School Class – Register Now!

Register now for Lay School class Congregational/Pastoral Care.  Class will meet for 4 sessions beginning on Saturday, January 23 at the Synod Office in Storm Lake. This class will be taught by Pastors John Syvertson and Cara Knutson. The class will meet from 9:00- 1:30 once a month January - April.  Topics include learning to listen, prayer, visiting with those who are ill, grieving or alone.

Some outside reading, practicing visitation, and class discussion is part of the class.
Registration is $395 which includes lunch each Saturday the class meets.

Pastors consistently suffer from weight problems and hypertension

For years, dinners consisting of granola bars or peanut butter crackers on the run were good enough for Pastor Ross Varney.

He'd munch them as he sped off to one evening meeting or another. He saw it as putting the church's needs ahead of his own. The habit seemed harmless until he couldn't sleep at night, couldn't concentrate by day, and felt just plain lousy much of the time. ELCA Night at Lamb Theatre in Sioux City
ELCA Lutheran  members and friends in Siouxland are invited to come together for  "ELCA Night at the LAMB Theatre" on Friday, December 11th. Sioux City's LAMB Arts Regional Theatre presents "They Call Her Beautiful," a new musical for all ages by Diana Guhin Wooley. This is a wondrous story of one family's holiday tradition, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's story "The Little Match Girl."

"They Call Her Beautiful" will be presented at the LAMB Theatre,                         471 Market Street, Sioux City, on Friday, December 11th at 7:30 p.m.

Special ticket prices for "ELCA Night at the LAMB" are $20 for adults, $16 for seniors, and $11 for children and students.  Reservations may be made by calling St. Mark Lutheran Church at 276-2418 before December 7th.
