Leaving Bumper Stickers Behind
What would happen if God's people were to leave their bumper stickers behind, break the silence on abortion, and get busy providing practical, tangible care for women in pregnancy?
by Marie Bowen
If you had told me in the beginning that four women with four differing positions on abortion would make a four-month commitment to study abortion together and the result would be excitement, common vision, and real sisterhood in Christ--I probably would not have believed you. In fact, the Pittsburgh Presbytery Council Task Force to Study Abortion found their dialogue, prayer and study together to be so valuable, they stretched their 4 month commitment to 8 months in order to offer something substantial and meaningful to the church. I was privileged to be a part of this Task Force. Read more
ACSWP Meeting: Side chats about life

I attended two days of the meeting of the Advisory Committee for Social Witness Policy held in Washington D.C., May 14-17. Members of this committee are a hard-working, highly committed, and diverse group. They heard from presenters on an array of difficult topics such as education, climate change, Middle East peace efforts, torture, gun control and more. Teaching the next generation: Marriage

Don't miss Mark Atkinson's 5-part series of sermons on marriage posted on PPL's website. Read it along with an excellent article by Kristin J. Tremba, Executive Director of One By One. One by One is a ministry to those experiencing sexual brokenness.

John Calvin

John Calvin
on Ex 21:22

"...the unborn, though enclosed in the womb of his mother, is already a human being, and it is an almost monstrous crime to rob it of life which it has not yet begun to enjoy. If it seems more horrible to kill a man in his own house than in a field, because a man's house is his most secure place of refuge, it ought surely to be deemed more atrocious to destroy the unborn in the womb before it has come to light."
