Thank you! You are amazing!

A few weeks ago we sent you an email asking for 100 individuals to step up and give an immeditate $10 to meet PPL's financial obligations for the end of September. YOU responded in an amazing way as God prompted you to give. The $1000 need was met in less than 24 hours!

And you didn't stop there. Within a week God supplied through your generosity 7 times that amount, putting us back on our feet as we go into October. Thanks for being our partners in upholding the sacred value of human life from fertilization to natural death! We cannot do it without you and we need your ongoing financial support and collaboration.

PPL reaffirms prophetic witnessPPL Board of Directors to PCUSA, expands to equip Presbyterian & Reformed bodies

The Board of Directors of Presbyterians Pro-Life held its annual meeting at First Presbyterian Church in Orlando, Florida October 6-8. A significant portion of the board's discussion centered on the many changes taking place in the denomination and how PPL might respond. In our discussion we considered the upcoming 2012 GA and reaffirmed our commitment to bear witness within the PC(USA) as we call our church to adopt a more Biblical position on life issues. PPL is also willing and ready toaid and equip the Fellowship of Presbyterians' New Reformed Body and the larger Presbyterian & Reformed community with resources upholding life and family. Read more.

October is Abortion Awareness Month-Is your church silent?

Most pro-life congregation members wish for their pastor to speak out boldly against the evil of abortion. They want their churches to take action politically and to engage in life-affirming ministry. Let me gently suggest that maybe it is you and not your pastor who needs to take action. I'm not letting pastors off the hook entirely. Pastors absolutely need to be teaching comprehensively on the value of human life as indicated throughout Scripture. God is crazy about us! Our Creator made us in his own image, and claims us for his own. He has purchased us with the costly sacrifice of his Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross. That message should pervade a pastor's sermons year round. Every baptism is an opportunity to remind members that God has loved and called them while they were still in the wombs of their mothers. There is never a moment in our lifetime when God does not love us, watch over us, nurture us. Silence on abortion is not an acceptable option, but it is not only pastors who are too silent!

Book Review: Book by Russell D. Moore
Russell D. Moore, Adopted for Life: The Priority of Adoption for Christian Families and Churches
(Wheaton: Crossway, 2009) 221pp.

Reviewed by Andy Nagel

Be careful: this book might change your life, and that's even if you don't have a conversion experience as you read it.

It is a unique kind of book-part revealing biography about a story of adoption, part profound theology on the doctrine of adoption, part practical information on the practice of adoption. Moore's experience and intellect combines with a preacher's heart to make this a wise yet challenging exhortation to Christians to more fully understand, embrace, and experience the reality of adoption in both its vertical and horizontal dimensions. Rev. Andy Nagel is Associate Pastor at Neelsville Presbyterian Church and a member of the PPL Board of Directors. He and his wife, Bethany, are the parents of two young children and beginning the process of growing their family through adoption. Andy is blogging about their adoption experience here.
