A Warm Welcome to our New MYC Families!
Between mid-season auditions and our graduating fall introductory choir classes MYC is welcoming over 30 NEW singers to our performing choirs this January! New faces will be at each rehearsal--please give them a smile and a warm welcome.

New MYC parents are invited to a short welcome and orientation session on Sunday, January 12 or Monday, January 20, where we will give a brief overview of the MYC community and welcome your questions. Parents of new singers are strongly encouraged to attend one of the sessions below that fits with your singer's rehearsal schedule. Sessions will last approximately 30 minutes.

Sunday, January 12, Choir Room
4:10PM | Parents of new Choraliers, or Con Gioia members
5:50PM | Parents of new Capriccio, or Cantilena members

Monday, January 20, Choir Room
5:40PM | Parents of new Purcell or Britten members
7:15PM | Parents of new Holst members
New Year--New Space!
We're so excited to begin rehearsals in the beautiful spaces inside Christ Presbyterian Church (CPC). With ample parking and loads of comfortable, welcoming spaces for parents to perch during rehearsal, we're eager for our families to begin enjoying MYC's new neighborhood!

Thank you for taking a few moments before your first rehearsal to investigate the route you will take through the Isthmus to arrive on time. CPC is at 944 East Gorham which is a one-way street with westbound traffic only. The parking lot can be accessed from Sherman Avenue and Castle Ct. Please enter through the main doors! (Once rosters are finalized, we are happy to help facilitate car-pooling.)

Rehearsal reminders:
New Singers: Please bring a 1" black binder for music, a sharpened pencil, and a water bottle (if you think you'll need a drink during rehearsal). We will have a rehearsal bag for each new singer--please see your conductor or ask Ian.

Returning Singers: please bring your music binder!

The rehearsal table is staffed from 3:45 to 7:30pm on Sundays and 5:15 to 8pm on Mondays. We suggest that if you have something to drop off or pick up that you do this BEFORE your rehearsal begins so you don't miss your opportunity.
The Big Red Box on the rehearsal table may be used for making tuition payments, turning in forms, etc.

Introductory Choir Registration for Spring Now Open
Registration is now open on our website for our spring introductory choir sessions. Introductory choir is the first MYC ensemble for new students ages 7-10 and is just a ten-week commitment for one hour each week. Please share with your interested friends and family!
Choraliers to Sing at the Handel Aria Showcase
On Saturday, February 8, Choraliers will be performing "Ombra mai fu" (from their first semester repertoire) at the Handel Aria High School Showcase event at Capitol Lakes Retirement Community. This invitation was enthusiastically extended by Handel Aria Competition founders (and beloved MYC supporters) Orange and Dean Schroeder, who heard Choraliers sing this piece on the December concert. Call time will be 1:30pm and we have added this special event to your calendar. Please let us know via the online absence form if you have an unavoidable, immovable conflict. (Singers new to Choraliers this semester are welcome to attend as audience members but are not expected to sing.)
Public Event Details:  2pm, Saturday, February 8 | Capitol Lakes Retirement
Madison's internationally-renowned Handel Aria Competition presents its 2nd annual High School Singers Showcase. This hour-long event, established to encourage local high school singers to explore Handel's music, will feature several young singers performing Handel arias. Each participating high school singer will receive a $100 scholarship towards private voice lessons or towards membership in the Madison Youth Choirs. The performance is free and open to the public. For more information, please visit: www.handelariacompetition.com.
Coffee is Back!
Orders placed by noon on Tuesday each week will be ready for pick up the following weekend at rehearsals (assuming we have enough units--25--to place an order). Watch this space each Thursday for coffee delivery updates!

As a reminder, each unit ordered equals $5 toward your family's fundraising contribution goal. You can read more about Just Coffee and how to order by clicking the button below!
Yay! It's Winter! (sort of)
We're in that silly season of unpredictable weather which may (sadly!) lead to canceling rehearsals on a Sunday or Monday. When we cancel a rehearsal we will always send an email, post the news on our Facebook page, and use the Remind app tool to send a text to families who have signed up for alerts. Signing up is easy and voluntary and you can find the instructions here:
