Open House Rehearsals | Celebrating Our New Space
This weekend parents are invited inside the rehearsal hall to observe the teaching magic first-hand and ponder the big ideas along with their singer. We hope many of you will take advantage of this opportunity to attend your singer's rehearsal to gain a better understanding of MYC's rehearsal process and educational priorities all while enjoying the music and celebrating our beautiful rehearsal space together.

When you arrive on Sunday or Monday, please go directly to your singer's rehearsal space, make a name tag, and enjoy watching the rehearsal process. At some point during the rehearsal, you'll be invited to enjoy light refreshments with other MYC families outside of the rehearsal space. You're always welcome to continue observing rehearsal. We just ask that no food or drink comes back into the rehearsal space.

When rehearsal ends please find your singer and enjoy the ride home discussing all that you learned and observed together!

P.S. Just a reminder that our regular rehearsals are always "open" and you're always welcome to slide in and observe. These Open House rehearsals include the opportunity for you to ask questions and, of course, have cake. :)

Wow! Some of you are off to a roaring start! Congratulations! We see Facebook fundraisers popping up on behalf of MYC, and online donations being made already from friends and family far and near.

What To Do This Week:
  • Read the Family Guide for inspiration and set a goal for finalizing and sending your letter/appeal by next week
  • Finalize how you will tell your story and who you will contact. Are you writing a letter? Sending an email? Setting up a Facebook fundraiser?  However you decide to communicate, this is the week to do the hard work of organizing your thoughts, deciding who to contact, and writing your appeal. Once this is done, the rest is easy!
  • If you've read through the Family Guide, please let us know by turning in your Golden Ticket at rehearsals this weekend! It's a treat week! Your singer has a handout from rehearsal with all this information--please use the guide to help you stay on track!
  • Because tuition covers less than 50% of the total cost of participation, fundraising is a necessary part of MYC membership. We count on families to embrace their contribution goal each year to help cover the tuition gap. Updated statements were emailed to families last week--thank you for paying attention to your fundraising progress, setting a goal, and participating!

Student Board Member Application Open Until Feb. 23
The board of Madison Youth Choirs has identified an opportunity for high school MYC members to have meaningful involvement in the governance of the organization. Current freshman, sophomores, and juniors who are in at least their second year of participation with MYC are encouraged to share their unique voice as a student board member. Students selected to this position will commit to participating in monthly MYC board meetings contributing their perspective while gaining insight into MYC's governance and acquiring non-profit board experience. This is a non-voting student position.

Applications are due February 23.

This is a unique opportunity for a student with deep enthusiasm for MYC and a keen interest in contributing to MYC's success outside of the rehearsal room!
