If you need to report an absence or late arrival, please complete the on-line absence form linked in the header section above. As a safety measure, if your singer is not checked in at rehearsal and we have not heard they will be absent, we will call you to verify the absence. The best way to reach us during rehearsals is via the MYC cell phone: 608-770-7464.

First Rehearsal Reminders
We're looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend!

As a reminder, we take attendance at every rehearsal. Upon arrival, please check in with the rehearsal parent taking attendance outside each rehearsal room. As a safety measure, if your singer is not checked in and we haven't heard they will be absent, we will call you. You can let us know your singer will be absent, late or leaving early by completing the on-line Absence Form linked above and on the Members page of our website. Please review our Attendance Policy in the MYC Handbook (also linked above and on our website).

Singers should bring their 1" black binder for music and a water bottle (if needed). Please help prevent lost items by clearly labeling your binder and water bottle!

Rehearsal begins promptly and the perfect time to arrive is 8-10 minutes before the beginning of rehearsal.

The MYC rehearsal table is staffed each week by Ian Disjardin, our Rehearsal Coordinator. If you have a question, he can point you in the right direction. Our Big Red Box will again be available to you on the rehearsal table each week. Please use this handy receptacle to turn in forms, payments, questions, etc.

Because Westgate Mall is a public space, we recommend younger singers are accompanied by a parent between the parking lot and the rehearsal area on the second floor of the mall. If a singer needs to wait for a ride, they are welcome to stay on the second floor near the rehearsal table until a parent arrives.

Rehearsal Parents Still Needed!
Volunteering to be a Rehearsal Parent is one of the very best ways to feel connected to the MYC community and provides a great opportunity to get to know not only the singers in your child's ensemble (and their families!) but also see how we rehearse and observe the magic that happens each week inside the rehearsal studios.

Thank you for considering this opportunity! Rehearsal Parents are still needed for the following ensembles:

Purcell, Britten and Holst Camp Details for Saturday, September 10
We are welcoming over 100 boychoir members to camp this Saturday on the beautiful campus of Madison Country Day School!

The Details
Attendance at camp is required. Your singer's camp date has been set for months and communicated to you when you received your registration forms. Thank you for making it a priority! If you have an immovable, unavoidable conflict, including a late arrival or early departure, we thank you in advance for communicating those details to us via the on-line absence form linked at the top of this email and found on the Members page of our website.

Camp location:
Madison Country Day School
5606 River Road, Waunakee

Look for the red MYC signs and use the main school entrance (first parking lot).
Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before the time listed below for your ensemble. Arriving earlier than that is discouraged unless you have signed up to help! Rehearsals will begin promptly and be finished at the time noted. Thank you for being prompt on both ends of the day!

What should you bring to camp?

What should you wear?
Everyone should dress comfortably for the day and plan that time will be spent both indoors and outdoors.

Missing Forms
Please be prepared: If we do not have a complete set of registration forms for your singer, you will be asked to submit them on Saturday.

Camp for Cantabile, Ragazzi, Choraliers, Con Gioia, Capriccio, and Cantilena will be held at Madison Country Day School on Saturday, September 17.

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities and hope many parents will consider joining us on camp day! (We need you!) Click the Join Us button to volunteer
Invitation to New Families
New families are invited to a brief welcome session on camp day designed to provide an introduction to successfully navigating the myriad details of the MYC experience. We want your year with us to be positive and this session might help get you started off on the right foot! (Returning families are welcome as well.) Plan to stick around for about 45 minutes after dropping off your singer. We'll meet in the registration area. (Don't worry, it will be obvious where to be!)
Fall Introductory Choir
If you have a younger singer in your family (age 7-10) interested in enrolling in our fall introductory choir program, we encourage you to register as soon as possible as our sessions are starting soon (and are filling!). Classes begin the third week of September and are offered on Sunday afternoon or Tuesday evening for ten weeks. Registration is open on our website!
Wardrobe Needed by September 12
Please return last season's concert wardrobe to the MYC office by September 12 if:
  • it no longer fits
  • you moved choirs and your NEW ensemble is Capriccio, Cantilena or Ragazzi

Please mark your returning wardrobe with your name (masking tape works great). Red MYC polos should only be returned if they no longer fit.

Current Capriccio singers who traveled to Scotland should return their Scotland tour dress.

Wardrobe can be brought to Westgate during office hours or on your first rehearsal day (please do NOT bring wardrobe to camp.) 
Wardrobe Fitting Plan
Thank you for marking these dates on your calendar if you are a new singer or a returning singer who has outgrown their concert wardrobe. (If you've outgrown your wardrobe--please RETURN it to the MYC office by September 12. Thank you!)

This is a huge undertaking for MYC staff and we appreciate your cooperation in prioritizing these dates so everyone can look snazzy on concert day. Please make every effort to take care of this on the date assigned to your ensemble!

Sunday, September 25
3:00 - 6:30pm

For: new and returning singers in Choraliers, Con Gioia, Capriccio, Cantilena and Cantabile who need to be fitted (or refitted) for their concert wardrobe.

Singers should plan to arrive at least 45 minutes before their scheduled rehearsal time to be fitted.

Sunday, October 9
3:15 - 4:15pm
For: new and returning singers in Ragazzi who need to be fitted (or refitted) for their concert wardrobe.

Monday, October 17 or October 24
2:30 - 5:00pm
For: new and returning singers in Purcell, Britten and Holst who need to be fitted (or refitted) for their concert wardrobe.

Please note: boychoir fittings will need to end promptly at 5pm so the room can be set for 5:30 rehearsal. (Please plan accordingly if you are arriving toward the end of our fitting time.)

Scotland Tour 2016 Concert CD's Have Arrived!
Scotland Tour 2016 participants are invited to pick up their copy of the send-off concert recorded at Covenant Presbyterian Church last July. CD's will be labeled and can be picked up at rehearsals this Sunday. (Look for the long brown table full of CD's!
