2016 Green Park
Award & Ceremony

On March 15 the PA Dept. of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR) announced that Millbrook Marsh Nature Center would receive their “2016 Green Park Award.”  The selection was based upon an evaluation of green and sustainable practices, a commitment to environmental education, the diversity of park uses and their restoration of the environment.  The 62-acre site, at 548 Puddintown Road in College Twp., includes a renovated 1850’s bank barn, the LEED-certified Spring Creek Education Building and a 50-acre wetland with an extensive boardwalk and trail network.  The nature center was established as a regional facility through the cooperation of the Centre Region COG, Penn State University, ClearWater Conservancy and a coalition of community groups.  Since it was established in 1997, the center has been operated by the Centre Region Parks & Recreation Authority. During 2015 the site  hosted over 13,000 program visits.

The public is invited to attend a  special award ceremony scheduled at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center on Friday, April 22 at 10 AM:

Senior officials of the PA Dept. of Conservation & Natural Resources will present the "2016 Green Park Award" to the CRPR Authority and municipal officials for their success at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center. They will also dedicate a tree planted at the Nature Center in honor of the designation.
The Centre County Recycling & Refuse Authority will recognize the CRPR Authority as a "2016 Green Business Partner" based upon the success of recycling efforts at the local parks and pools.
