You can let us know your singer will be absent, late or leaving early by completing the on-line Absence Form linked above and on the Members page of our website. Please review our Attendance Policy in the MYC Handbook (also linked above and on our website).

Each singer should arrive at rehearsal with a black 1" binder for their music.
Opening Camp Details
Every new season with Madison Youth Choirs begins with an opening camp day for each ensemble. Singers meet their conductors and fellow ensemble members for an extended time. Music is made, and friendships are sparked! Camp sets the tone for the entire semester and begins the positive momentum toward our rehearsal season.

Attendance at camp is required. Your singer's camp date has been set for months and communicated to you when you received your registration forms. Thank you for making it a priority! If you have an immovable, unavoidable conflict, we expect you to communicate that to us via the on-line absence form linked at the top of this email and found on the Members page of our website.

Camp is held on the beautiful campus of Madison Country Day School, 5606 River Road in Waunakee.

Saturday, September 9:
9:30am - 5:00pm Holst (please pack a sack lunch)
2:00pm - 5:00pm Purcell; Britten

Saturday, September 16:
9:30am - Noon Choraliers; Con Gioia
1:00pm - 4:30pm Cantabile; Ragazzi; Capriccio; and Cantilena

What should singers bring to camp?
1" black binder for their music
water bottle
a full stomach and energy! (A small snack will be provided.)

Singers in Holst should also bring a sack lunch that does not need to be refrigerated.

Everyone should dress comfortably for the day and plan that time will be spent both indoors and outdoors.
Want to Join Us on Camp Day?
We have a variety of volunteer opportunities and encourage parents to consider joining us on camp day! Take a look at the options below then click the Join Us button to volunteer.

Ensemble Chaperone
Depending upon the ensemble this could be a very busy or very low-key day! Chaperones enjoy the sneak peek into our upcoming season and the opportunity to experience how MYC teaches and rehearses. Chaperones arrive a bit early and are prepared to help in any way asked throughout the day. Flexibility, energy and a smile are all that's needed!

Greeters arrive a bit early, smile and direct "traffic."

Invitation to New Families on Camp Day
New families are invited to a brief welcome session on camp day designed to provide an introduction to successfully navigating the myriad details of the MYC experience. We want your year with us to be positive and this session will help get you started off on the right foot! Plan to stick around for about 45 minutes after dropping off your singer. We'll meet in the registration area. (Don't worry, it will be obvious where to be!)
Are You an MYC Enthusiast?
Be a Resource for New Families!
If you are a returning MYC family who has successfully navigated a season with us and you have enthusiasm to spare, you're invited to attend our welcome session for new MYC families on camp day to extend hospitality and provide your perspective on being part of the MYC community. We especially need representatives from Choraliers, Con Gioia, Purcell, Britten and Holst. Thank you for considering this opportunity to help welcome our new families!
Fall Introductory Choir Classes
If you have a younger singer in your family (age 7-10) or know a youngster interested in enrolling in our fall introductory choir program, we encourage you to register soon as our sessions are filling up. Classes begin the third week of September and are offered on Sunday afternoon, Tuesday evening, or Saturday morning (Lake Edge Lutheran location in Monona).  Registration is open on our website!
Final Audition Opportunity is September 6
Our final evening of auditions for the 2017-18 season are on Wednesday evening, September 6. If you know a student in 5th grade or above who would like the opportunity to join us this fall, please direct them to our Join a Choir page to make an audition reservation.

Details, including height requirements and rehearsal and performance dates, were sent in an email (see archives or check your inbox). Responses are due by September 1.
Volunteer at Taste of Madison for MYC
Volunteering at Taste of Madison is a great way to earn money toward your family's 2017-18 fundraising contribution goal. The event is held on the Capitol Square on Saturday, September 2 and Sunday, September 3 (Labor Day Weekend).

The Details
Volunteers earn $10 for each hour worked. These funds are paid by Madison Festivals directly to Madison Youth Choirs and ultimately the portion you earn is recorded on your MYC statement under the fundraising contribution goal section allowing you to track your progress toward meeting the $200 fundraising contribution goal for the 2017-18 season.
Shift reservations are required and you must be at least 14 years old to volunteer. There are numerous opportunities and you can recruit as many friends and family members as you'd like to work alongside you. Just make sure they also designate Madison Youth Choirs as their charity when they reserve their shift so you get credit for their hours worked.

You can read about volunteering here:

When you're ready to sign up for shifts, follow this link:

You may snag any shift that is not already assigned to a group. Simply choose the job and shift you would like to do, fill in the registration form and designate Madison Youth Choirs as your benefiting charity (drop-down menu at the bottom of the registration form).

Please reserve only the shifts you are committed to working. We have a great reputation with Madison Festivals built from years of dedicated volunteers. Thank you for considering carefully before you reserve your shifts and thank you for working on behalf of Madison Youth Choirs!

If you have questions about volunteering specifically with Taste of Madison, please contact Lori at lori@racedayeventsllc.com or (608) 276-9797 ext. 308.

Any other questions, please contact the MYC office. Thanks!
