FALL 2015 - EDITION 3

Welcome To This Week's Edition Of The DOC Newsletter.

See below information about what is going on in DSSC; coaching best practices and advice.

We are now approaching that time in the season where daylight is becoming limited for the practice sessions. Please as coaches be prepared and plan for this. Right now, we do not want any teams on the fields after the 'civil twilight' has begun. You can see times for any date on the website below. You can see on the DS website the most up to date practice matrix. Reach out to Chris Mayer and request some space for earlier practice slots if needed. BE SENSIBLE. KEEP THE PLAYERS SAFE.

Well done to the U11 Girls Mustangs and U9 Boys Hammers who took part in the Natick Columbus Day tournament this weekend. Both teams played very well and did DS soccer proud!

Coaching Course

US Soccer have this year changed their coaching qualification system. The beginner course is now the 'F' license. This is an online, 2 hour course that provides an introduction to the fundamentals of coaching. We would like to recommend that all DS soccer coaches complete this course. The course costs $25 which will be reimbursed by the club. More information is below.

DSSC 'Back To Basics'

Back to Basics is a new series breaking down each of the basic soccer fundamentals. This week the topic is Dribbling. See below a breakdown of key coaching points for dribbling, and a video of some dribbling coaching drills.

This is particularly aimed for our PreK-4th Grade coaches. At this age ensuring the correct  technique is vital for the players development. Watch the video below for some session ideas for dribbling.

DSSC Night At The Revs

DSSC night at the Revs is fast approaching. This is a fantastic community event, and great opportunity for your children to watch professional soccer in action. Deadline has been extended until 10/15.

Concussion Awareness

Coaches please all remember the importance of Concussion awareness. If any child is suspected to have a concussion do not let them play until they have been cleared by the doctor.

All coaches should have completed the concussion training online which provides more guidance about signs and symptoms.
