Invitation to New Families on Camp Day
New families are invited to a brief welcome session on camp day designed to provide an introduction to successfully navigating the myriad details of the first-year MYC experience. We want your time with us to be positive and this session will help get you started off on the right foot! Plan to stick around for about 45 minutes after dropping off your singer. We'll meet in the registration area. (Don't worry, it will be obvious where to be!)

If you can't stay for this welcome session, we encourage you to be reading the Weekly Notes thoroughly every Thursday and using our website as your first reference if you have questions.

Rehearsal Parent Opportunity: Smiles Wanted!
MYC Rehearsal Parents have the wonderful job of greeting our singers at every rehearsal (with a smile!) and marking their attendance on the ensemble roster. Rehearsal parents commit to arriving 10-15 minutes before rehearsal begins to be in place and ready to take attendance. Once everyone is checked in, phone calls are made to singers who are absent without prior notification. Volunteering to be a Rehearsal Parent is one of the very best ways to feel connected to the MYC community and provides a great opportunity to get to know not only the singers in your child's ensemble (and their families!) but also see how we rehearse and observe the magic that happens each week inside the rehearsal studios.

Thank you for considering this opportunity! Rehearsal Parents are needed for the following ensembles:

Sunday rehearsals: Con Gioia (Green); Capriccio

Please email Ian if you are interested and to get more information. Thank you!

Spring Break 2019
MYC typically follows the spring break schedule for the MMSD. This year, we will be taking just one Sunday and one Monday off for spring break: Sunday, March 24 and Monday, March 25. We will be rehearsing on Sunday, March 31 and Monday, April 1.  Because we have singers from every school district in Dane County (and beyond), our spring break at MYC may not coincide with your spring break schedule. If you already know your travel plans, please feel free to submit your absence form at any time for next semester. All calendars have been updated.

Special Opportunity: Madison Opera Presents Pagliacci
Sign up ends Monday, September 17
As the official children's choir of the Madison Opera, we have been asked to choose 12-16 singers to perform in their production of Pagliacci (“The Clowns”), the second half of a double-bill that will be conducted by Joseph Mechavich and directed by Kristine McIntyre. This is an amazing opportunity for our singers to participate in a professional opera production with an incredible cast and production staff, learn great music, and sing on the Overture Hall stage!

The children's chorus has an important role in the production and it will require the ability to be focused and on-task at all times. The commitment will be significant but well worth the extra time. We are looking for a group of up to 16 treble voice singers with a maximum height of 5'4" and a mix of boys and girls of various ages.

The commitment: all rehearsals and performances are required.
