Information and registration are available online for the 2019 Synod Assembly to be held May 10-11, 2019 at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines.

  • Reduced rate rooms at the Sheraton will be released Thursday, April 25 Reserve your room
  • PreAssembly Materials are available online
  • We will not be asking for dietary restrictions this year on registration, but we do have options, please see the menu online
  • Please bring your congregation's reusable shopping bag, filled with items that represent your outreach so that we can bless them during worship.

ELCA Primary Health Plan Members Getting Jump Start on Earning 2019 Wellness Dollars
For those of you who are on the ELCA Primary Health Plan and have not started earning your
wellness dollars you can start today and join the 29% of eligible plan members and 19% of eligible
spouses who have already begun using the 2019 Live Well Tool. Get started.

The application window for 2020 ELCA World Hunger Domestic Hunger Grants opens April 15! Visit to learn more about the grants and how to apply.

Bread for the World Offering of Letters Advocacy Training 
In partnership with Bread for the World and the Office of the Bishop, there will be advocacy training on Thursday, April 25 from 9:30-11:00 a.m at the Synod Center for Ministry in Iowa City.

Learn how to get your faith community involved in the coordinated Offering of Letters. It will be conducted by Bread for the World's midwest senior regional organizer, Rev. Russ Melby, and Steve Panther.

“Warehoused” Documentary presented by LSI Refugee Community Services -Des Moines     

Over 12 million people worldwide live in refugee camps with less than 0.1% resettled, repatriated or integrated into mainstream society each year. The feature-length documentary Warehoused highlights the plight of long-term refugees over the course of history, culminating in today’s refugee crisis. Q&A following, admission is free.
