HPN CALL SHEET
April 1, 2020
Prayers for the Entertainment Industry

Dear HPN members,

We are so glad to have our Call Sheets during this time when we can’t meet in person! We ask that you pray over these prayer requests this month with vigor and joy, so that our prayers can be multiplied, amplified and even more impactful than ever before. We pray that you are all fine and healthy and able to encourage, serve, and pray for people who aren’t! The people in our industry need our prayers right now!

And join our new Friday HPN Prayer Zoom Meeting every week from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time, as we pray for one another and for our industry. You can also type prayer requests during the call or email them to us if you can’t make it, and the HPN team will pray over those requests. We would love to have all of you join us. Working from Home

We praise God for the creative professionals who are making the most of this challenging time by working and bringing joy and humor from home. Jimmy Fallon, John Krasinski, and others like them who are able to produce positive content from home. Jimmy is using his humor to encourage other people as he self-quarantines. We have to keep laughing, even in scary times, and we are thankful for his perspective to have family around him more now than ever. Additionally, John is producing a show called “Some Good News.” Be encouraged by this article and then go encourage someone yourself!

John Boyega

Praise God that John Boyega, who has been outspoken about his faith, and his production company, UpperRoom Entertainment, recently got a unique deal with Netflix to develop non-English language films centered on West and East Africa. This is an exciting opportunity and platform to spread stories that matter. Pray that God would guide John’s projects and help him to create uplifting, truthful content.

REQUESTS

Mark Blum

In Memoriam: Mark Blum

The HPN community is praying for the loss of Broadway, film and TV actor Mark Blum, who passed away last Wednesday, March 25th, due to complications resulting from the coronavirus. Mark was not only an active member of the New York City creative community, but he was also Karen Covell’s dear brother-in-law. Karen’s sister Janet, an actress and head of NYU’s Tisch Graduate Acting School, is recovering from the virus herself as she mourns the loss of her husband Mark. Janet and Mark are two of the growing number of people with coronavirus in New York City and specifically in the creative community there, so please pray for them and others who are affected.

In Memorium: Rick Bonn

Our HPN community is mourning the death of our friend and fellow industry pro, Rick Bonn, who passed away from complications from pneumonia in mid-March. Rick, who was best known as owner of Bonnfire Media and former Head of Development and Acquisitions at Pureflix, was a loving creative friend and man of God. Please pray for his family, friends and co-workers who miss him so much.

Animation

Pray for our industry professionals to keep creating during this time when it feels like everything is halted. But creativity never stops, especially in animation, which can largely be done remotely during this time. Let’s praise God for the creatives who are still working now, including many animators, that God would guide and bless their creative storytelling in this time and continue to give the world great stories of hope, truth and beauty.

Financial Impact on Entertainment Industry

Let’s pray for the people in our industry worldwide, who are hurting financially because they have lost their jobs in the past couple of weeks. There are thousands of creative and business professionals who are afraid they can’t pay this month’s rent. There are production companies already closing their doors, and films and TV shows that had to shut down production and are losing millions of dollars. Pray for God’s provision for people on all levels of our storytelling community.

Actors During Coronavirus

The coronavirus outbreak is especially challenging for actors, as many productions have been canceled or halted and actors are out of work, both through their creative work but also through their other sources of income in restaurants and other service industries. Let’s lift up actors during this time, that God would provide for them financially and that He would renew their energy and passion for their crafts. Let’s also lift up acting union chief David White, as he seeks to guide union actors wisely through this time.

Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and please join us on our Friday prayer call, email us with any personal or industry prayer requests and know that we are just an email or a phone call away.

With love and thanks,
Karen, Kaelyn, Virginia, and Kim

QUOTE:
"Faith is the refusal to panic, come what may."
— Martyn Lloyd-Jones

VERSE:
“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!  So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NLT)
