Since the CDRA’s implementation in 2013, Pennsylvanians have become accustomed to hearing news of businesses and local governments being forced to stop collecting electronics and TVs. Some of the biggest announcements over the past few years:
Winter 2013-14 – Goodwill announces it will no longer accept TVs for recycling
Spring 2015 – five counties around Philadelphia report they were forced to suspend electronics programs as no recyclers were willing to support them
Summer 2015 – Construction Junction in Pittsburgh closes its doors to accepting electronics
Winter 2015-16 – York County shuts down all electronics collections sites
Winter 2015-16 – eLoop, a Pittsburgh-based recycler, announces it will no longer offer CDRA-supported recycling in western PA
Winter 2015-16 – Best Buy issues a news release announcing it will no longer accept TVs for recycling at its 37 PA stores
