Director of Congregational Health Services

I just got back from my vacation to Indiana and my birth state of Michigan. I visited dear friends and family, including my aunt, who will be 95 years old in December. She is my mother’s only living sibling, and we had a very good visit. She and her daughter, who is her caregiver, are staying at my niece’s cottage on Lake Huron. My niece and I had an amazing time sitting on her beach with our feet in the lake just catching up!

Several of my family and friends were having health issues; some were minor, but a couple were very serious. As a result, I provided counsel to close family friends, I have been a nurse for many years and a Faith Community Nurse since 1988. As an FCN, my family and friends have become my “congregation,” and I am able to answer many of their questions and explain their diagnoses.

FCN is an ANA (American Nurses Association) specialty that is intentionally spiritual. Duet is holding another Foundations in Faith Community Nursing course starting September 2017. In our Foundations of Faith Community Nursing course, you will learn how to use your nursing skills to care for a congregation, whether you are in your faith community or among those struggling with health issues in the public sector. To register and for additional information, click here.  I truly believe you will enjoy this course!

August blessings to you!
