Tallinn Boys Choir Visit in Early January, 2020
MYC will be hosting the acclaimed Tallinn Boys Choir (Estonia) on Sunday, January 5 through Tuesday morning, January 7, with a shared concert on Monday evening with Purcell, Britten, and Holst. Estonia is well-known for its singing culture and a quick Google search for "singing revolution" will reveal the dramatic recent history of how song changed the course of history for this small Baltic country. We are looking forward to this once-in-a-lifetime collaboration (and making new friends)!

Forty-six total travelers will be arriving in Madison on Sunday, January 5. The choir of boys and young men spans the ages of 10 through 21. We will also be hosting their adult conductors and chaperones and so some overnight groupings include a combination of adults and children and a few are just adults. Thank you for opening your home to host two or more future friends!

Hosts provide a place to sleep for two nights, dinner on Sunday, breakfast on Monday and Tuesday morning, and transportation between our designated meeting spot (TBD) and your home (see bottom for draft schedule). You are not responsible for entertaining your guests on Monday during the day--just delivering them to the designated meeting spot in the morning so they can begin their day of workshops and sight-seeing. We all come back together on Monday afternoon for a joint rehearsal, dinner, and shared concert with Purcell, Britten, and Holst. Tuesday morning they depart for their next destination with fond memories of their time in Madison (thanks to you!).

Hosting is open to the entire MYC community but we hope the boychoir families are especially interested since there will be a shared concert! We will have more information on the location of the concert and the designated meeting spot as we get closer to the event. Thank you for opening your home!

Questions? Please ask!

Tuesday, January 7: After breakfast, bring your guests to designated meeting spot (TBD).

Poinsettia Sale
We have many businesses hoping to be contacted by MYC so they can place their annual poinsettia order. MYC retains sales information from past years and will gladly pass along former singer business leads to interested families. If you sold to businesses last year and need your contact information, please let us know--we can easily provide past order information to make your pitch as simple as possible. This is the week to contact businesses! Please email Ian to get started.

A few details to get you started:
Our poinsettias are supplied by Felly's Greenhouse and are guaranteed. They are beautiful plants available in three colors--pink, white, and red and in four sizes ranging in price from $12-$37. Families earn $5 per plant sold, regardless of size, toward their fundraising goal. Plants are available until our stock is sold out but our initial deadline for submitting orders initial orders is November 15 so Felly's has time to prepare the orders for our first set of delivery/pick up dates the week before and after Thanksgiving.

There are two ways to sell: gather individual orders from family, neighbors, coworkers, etc., and/or approach businesses interested in decorating for the holidays or providing gifts to their clients. Restaurants, coffee shops, churches, real estate offices, hair salons, hotels, car dealerships, banks, etc. are all good places to start. Please read through the information sheet before you begin selling and please contact the MYC office with any questions you may have.
