Report to the Bishop
I am so grateful for those pastors and deacons who have submitted their Annual Report to the Bishop. This is a valuable resource for me to stay “up to speed” on what’s happening in your life and ministry. These reports often prompt constructive conversations about our shared ministry. I hope those who have not yet submitted a report will take the opportunity.

Please remember that these reports are considered confidential. It is best to send them directly to burk@seiasynod.org (or mail a hard copy to Bishop Burk). And it is important to remember to save the blank form to your computer before completing and attaching to an email.

Blessings,

Bishop Michael Burk

Lutheran Day on the Hill
Mark your calendars and plan to join a group of passionate advocates on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, for Lutheran Day on the Hill and make a difference for tens of thousands of Iowans. Your legislators want and need to hear from you about critical human services.

Lutheran Day on the Hill gives you the opportunity to share your voice with your legislators. As in years past, participants will be given information about important issues before the legislature and will be given suggestions about how best to visit with them concerning what is most important to you. The day will begin at 9:30 at Capitol Hill Lutheran Chruch before moving to the Statehouse.

Chartered buses offered at no cost to attendees will be stopping in Iowa City and Newton. Online registrations is available by clicking the link below. With additional information provided on that site.

This event has been made possible in part through a grant from ELCA World Hunger. Lutheran Services in Iowa is proud to be a partner in Lutheran Day on the Hill with the three Iowa Synods of the ELCA.

Reformation 500
The ELCA is one church body organized in three expressions - congregations, synods and the churchwide organization. Each expression has its particular functions, but all three share a common mission of doing God's work in the world and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Congregations, members, synods and other institutions of the ELCA will be observing the 500th anniversary of the reformation by a variety of events and activities in the coming years. Many of the local activities will reflect the magnitude of work being done on a national and international scale.

Follow the link below to find more events and resources surrounding the 500th anniversary of the reformation.

ConFEST 2017: Act2Day 4 Tomorrow
A synod-wide event to enhance and support congregation confirmation ministries by exploring churchwide connections, engaging servant learning and creating community.

Act2Day 4 Tomorrow is ELCA World Hunger's event for youth in middle school and high school. Youth will build community with each other, learn more about hunger and ELCA World Hunger, and take time to reflect on how God is calling them to respond to need in their world. Based on Acts 2:42, Act2Day 4 Tomorrow draws on the seven faith practices of the ELCA (pray, study, serve, give, invite, encourage and worship).
