Weekly Notes From Madison Youth Choirs
Thursday, May 12, 2016
We couldn't be more proud of our singers or more grateful to our committed families for making this season so memorable. Thank you for an amazing weekend of concerts!

What happens now? See below for a few end-of-season housekeeping items.
Music and Wardrobe
All MYC music should be removed from your singer's binder and returned to the MYC office as soon as possible. (Most has been returned--please double-check to see if your singer still has music.) Please make sure it is clearly labeled with your singer's name and ensemble.

Cantabile & Ragazzi: your music will be returned after our Monroe concert (we'll have bins available that day.)

Anyone going to Scotland should keep all their music.

If you are NOT returning to MYC next season, please return your concert wardrobe and your red MYC polo to the MYC office. All items should be clearly marked with your name--masking tape works well.

All singers in Cantilena and Cantabile: we will be using your dress for our Scotland tour. Please follow the instructions for returning wardrobe that were sent to you in a separate email earlier this week.

Whew! That's a lot of variables. Please ask if you have any questions!
Audition Reservations
Please reserve your audition time if you haven't already done so. You are eligible to audition if you have returned your intention form with deposit (indicating you wish to audition) and have reached the minimum grade level for the next level performing choir. Please click here for more information.

2016-17 placements and registration information for returning singers will be sent to families via email by June 10.
Concert CD's On Sale
Concert cd's may be ordered directly from Audio for the Arts.
Tell Your Friends About MYC
Now is the time to let your friends know about either auditioning for a performing choir (grades 5-12) or enrolling in a summer introductory choir session (ages 7-10). All the information they need is on our website under the Join A Choir tab.
Opera for the Young: The Magic Flute
We are looking for MYC singers to participate in Opera for the Young's current tour of The Magic Flute at Family Opera Day on June 4. We are looking for 16 singers in grades 2-5 who can commit to two rehearsals and the performance day at Overture Center for the Arts.

Rehearsals at Westgate, Studio 4
Tuesday, May 24, 6:45-8:00pm
Tuesday, May 31, 6:45-8:00pm

Performance at Overture Center for the Arts
Saturday, June 4, most of the day, likely 10:30am - 4:00pm

Please RSVP to Lisa with your singer's name and choir. Once you volunteer we assume you have checked the dates and can commit to 100% participation. Lisa will confirm each participant once the list is final--thank you for your patience!
Madison Marathon and Brat Fest 2016
Sunshine! Bratwurst! Grilled corn!

Each year MYC provides dozens of volunteers for these events (both held on Memorial Day weekend) in exchange for a generous donation from Madison Festivals and the Brat Fest Foundation. By choosing MYC as your charity when you register, all funds earned can be applied toward your family's 2016-17 (next season's) fundraising contribution goal. We encourage you to consider working a shift or two to benefit MYC. Volunteer opportunities begin Monday, May 23, and end Wednesday, June 1. Please read through the information provided below and thank you for taking advantage of this (very fun!) opportunity to raise funds for MYC!

Make Music Madison
Want to be part of the city-wide music celebration? Everything you need to know about hosting a venue or performing is linked below:

Be sure to check out the Mass Appeal link which lists opportunities already planned that anyone can join!
The Pacific Boychoir Academy from Oakland, California will perform an evening concert on Wednesday, June 22, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Middleton. Purcell, Britten and Holst will be joining them in song and we hope to have as many boychoir members participate as possible. Please check your calendars and let us know via the absence form if you have a conflict. We are looking forward to an amazing night of music and new friendships!

Would you like to host singers from the Pacific Boychoir Academy? Please consider opening your home to host two or more boys overnight on Wednesday, June 22 through breakfast on Thursday morning. You do not need to be a boychoir family to host. All MYC families are invited!
