As a safety measure, if your singer is not checked in at rehearsal and we have not heard they will be absent, we will call you to verify the absence. Carmina Burana 
Purcell, Britten and our treble cohort from Holst will be performing Carmina Burana with the Madison Symphony Orchestra and Chorus on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Congratulations to everyone on their fantastic focus and brilliant singing!

Outreach Tours: Thank you!
What a week! Thank you, parents, for supporting your singer's participation in our spring outreach tours this week! By the end of the day on Friday, our singers will have shared their music with over 8,000 Dane County residents singing in elementary schools, senior care facilities and retirement communities, forging friendships and making memories.

Just one more day!

2016-17 Season Intention Forms Due This Monday!
Thank you for carefully reading through the intention form information that was distributed at rehearsals and shared with you via email earlier this month (April 11/12). Intention forms and deposits are due by May 2 (that's this Monday!). Submitting your intention form ensures you will receive the time-sensitive 2016-17 placement and registration forms scheduled for delivery to families in mid-June.

If your singer is eligible to audition, please submit your intention form and then reserve your audition time using the link below (also on our Members page).
 
 
 
 
 
Spring Concert Dress Rehearsals
As a reminder, dress rehearsals are required in order to sing in the spring concert and an appeals form should be submitted if you have an immovable, unavoidable conflict.

Specific details were provided in a separate email last week along with a sign up for backstage help for Saturday's rehearsals. Please take a moment to review the information and your singer's calendar so you understand when they need to be at the Capitol Theater (downtown) on Saturday, May 7 and/or Sunday, May 8.

 
 
 
 
 
Spring Concert Tickets Now on Sale
Tickets are on sale now for our spring concert series, Sounds Like Home: Music in Diaspora through the Overture Center Box Office, 201 State Street. Seating is "general admission" and tickets can be purchased in advance or on concert day. Please use the promotional code "MYCFAM" to secure $12.50 adult tickets and $7 student tickets. Regular prices are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Children 7 and under are free but a physical ticket is required for entry. Please be sure to secure a ticket from the Box Office for everyone in your party. Families wishing to attend more than one concert should contact the Box Office directly for an additional discount.

IMPORTANT: Everyone entering the Capitol Theater as an audience member needs a physical ticket from box office including MYC singers who are attending a sibling's concert. Please email Lynn with your complimentary ticket request by Thursday, May 5. Include your singer's name and the concert they wish to attend. 

The most economical way to purchase tickets is in person at the box office at 201 State Street. Tickets purchased through the on-line portal incur additional fees.

 
 
 
 
 
Opera for the Young: The Magic Flute
We are looking for MYC singers to participate in Opera for the Young's current tour of The Magic Flute at Family Opera Day on June 4. We are looking for 16 singers in grades 2-5 who can commit to two rehearsals and the performance day at Overture Center for the Arts.

Tuesday, May 24, 6:45-8:00pm
Tuesday, May 31, 6:45-8:00pm

Performance at Overture Center for the Arts
Saturday, June 4, most of the day, likely 10:30am - 4:00pm

Please RSVP to Lisa with your singer's name and choir by Friday, April 29. We will build the roster based on the needs of Opera for the Young. Once you volunteer we assume you have checked the dates and can commit to 100% participation. Lisa will confirm each participant once the list is final--thank you for your patience!
 
 
 
 
 
Out of the Shadows: Performing the Jewish Archive
Con Gioia, Cantabile and Ragazzi Performing
Con Gioia, Cantabile, and Ragazzi will be performing on May 5 in the festival's culminating Collage Concert and tickets are now on sale through the Overture Center Box Office. MYC families may purchase tickets for $5 using the purchase code "PJA" during check out.

Madison Marathon and Brat Fest 2016
Sunshine! Bratwurst! Grilled corn!

Each year MYC provides dozens of volunteers for these events (both held on Memorial Day weekend) in exchange for a generous donation from Madison Festivals and the Brat Fest Foundation. By choosing MYC as your charity when you register, all funds earned can be applied toward your family's 2016-17 (next season's) fundraising contribution goal. We encourage you to consider working a shift or two to benefit MYC. Volunteer opportunities begin Monday, May 23, and end Wednesday, June 1. Please read through the information provided below and thank you for taking advantage of this (very fun!) opportunity to raise funds for MYC!

MYC Night With the Madison Mallards
Yup. It's that time again! The Mallards have invited us back to the Duck Pond to sing the National Anthem, have a brat (or two) and cheer on our home-town team at the best little ball park in the Midwest! Let's celebrate summer together!

Summer Introductory Choir Registration Now Open
We are offering three sessions of introductory choir this summer and registration is now open on our website. Successfully completing an introductory choir session is the first step toward singing in our performing choir program this fall for students ages 7-10.

Sessions Offered:
Colla Voce (for girls) | June 13 - 17 | June 20 - 24 | June 27 - July 1*
Tallis (for boys) | June 13 - 17 | June 27 - July 1*

*This week is a combined class for boys and girls.

Sessions are limited to 15 students and registration will close when each class is full. Thank you for telling your friends about this opportunity to sing with us!

The Pacific Boychoir Academy from Oakland, California will perform an evening concert on Wednesday, June 22, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Middleton. Purcell, Britten and Holst will be joining them in song and we hope to have as many boychoir members participate as possible. Please check your calendars and let us know via the absence form if you have a conflict. We are looking forward to an amazing night of music and new friendships! 

Would you like to host singers from the Pacific Boychoir Academy? Please consider opening your home to host two or more boys overnight on Wednesday, June 22 through breakfast on Thursday morning. You do not need to be a boychoir family to host. All MYC families are invited!

Seasonal Photographs Wanted
Have you taken photos of your favorite time of year?
Visual artist, Lisa A. Frank, will be creating photographic scenery for this year’s “Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society” concerts at the Overture Center for the Arts.
The program on June 25th will include Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons.” For this concert, a photo collage of the four seasons will be projected on a large screen behind the musicians.
Lisa invites amateur photographers of all ages to participate in this concert by sending up to 5 of your best shots depicting any aspect of any season. The images can be in jpeg, tiff or Photoshop format. If your photograph is included, you may be asked to resend a higher resolution image. All featured photographers will receive a video of the final result. Up to 100 photos will be selected!
