It's MYChoir Kick-Off This Weekend
Our final and most important fundraising campaign of the season--It's MYChoir-- begins this weekend! All singers will be receiving information packets at rehearsal and we will be providing weekly reminders and tips for how to participate over the next six weeks. The first step is easy--just read through the packet with your singer(s) and make a plan. Our goal this year is 100% participation and the choir with the highest percentage of singers participating will be rewarded. Last year we raised over $32,000--this year our goal is $35,000! We can do it!

It's MYChoir (IMC) is both a fundraising campaign and an opportunity for members and staff to share with the wider community the importance of music education and the benefits it provides. Because tuition alone covers less than 50% of the total cost of each singer's enrollment, fundraising is a necessary part of MYC membership. We count on families to fully participate and meet their $200 family fundraising goal each year to help cover the tuition gap.

This is an organization-wide event with staff fully participating as well!

Special Performance Added to May Calendar for
Con Gioia, Cantabile and Ragazzi
Our Con Gioia, Cantabile, and Ragazzi choirs have been invited to participate in a major international research symposium in Madison in May called Out of the Shadows Festival. This event is part of a multi-year international grant focused on performing previously unknown or rarely-performed Jewish music. The festival will offer performances over several days but we will be participating in just the final evening's concert that will focus on the music of Gideon Klein. Klein was a Czech pianist and composer who spent several years of his life living, performing, and writing music in the Theresienstadt (also referred to as Terezin) concentration camp during World War II.

The Details:
Capitol Theater, Overture Center for the Arts
Thursday, May 5
5:30 - 6:30PM Rehearsal
7:30PM Concert

The concert will be a ticketed event through the Overture Center for the Arts Box Office and tickets will be on sale soon. MYC families may use the promo code "PJA" to purchase $5 tickets. Yay!

While this is an important festival for the Madison community, we are especially honored to be participating as its focus dovetails beautifully with our semester's theme of diaspora, and our study of music and ideas associated with dispersed populations throughout history.
