Handel Aria Showcase Performance | Choraliers
Choraliers singers will be performing "Ombra mai fu" (from their first semester repertoire) at the Handel Aria High School Showcase event at Capitol Lakes Retirement Community.

The Details:
Saturday, February 8
Singers may be dropped off at the main entrance. We will have staff there to greet and direct them. Parking is available in the lot across the street and throughout the neighborhood.

Event begins at 2pm.

Please wear MYC concert wardrobe, black tights/hosiery, flat black dress shoes.

This event is free and open to the public. Choraliers parents are encouraged to attend! If your singer has an immovable, unavoidable conflict, thank you for submitting the online absence form.

Please note: singers new to Choraliers this semester are welcome to attend as audience members but are not expected to sing as the repertoire is unknown to them.

MYC Board Invites Student Involvement
The board of Madison Youth Choirs has identified an opportunity for high school MYC members to have meaningful involvement in the governance of the organization. Current freshman, sophomores, and juniors who are in at least their second year of participation with MYC are encouraged to share their unique voice as a student board member. Students selected to this position will commit to participating in monthly MYC board meetings contributing their perspective while gaining insight into MYC's governance and acquiring non-profit board experience. This is a non-voting student position.

Applications are due February 23 and we anticipate a decision will be made by March 15. Up to two new student members will be welcomed at the April 16, 2020 board meeting.

Good to know:
The MYC board of directors consists of up to 14 adult members who have committed to three-year terms. They meet monthly and are the governing body with ultimate responsibility for the organization's strategic plan. Meetings are generally scheduled for 90 minutes on the third Thursday of each month and are held at various locations throughout Madison. Student members would need to provide their own transportation to board meetings. The Student Board Member position will have a one-year term.

This is a unique opportunity for a student with deep enthusiasm for MYC and a keen interest in contributing to MYC's success outside of the rehearsal room!

Our final and most important fundraising campaign of the season--It's MYChoir (IMC)-- begins this weekend! IMC is both a fundraising campaign and an opportunity for members and staff to share with the wider community the importance of music education and the benefits it provides. All singers will be receiving a guide to the campaign at rehearsal this weekend and we will be providing weekly reminders and tips for how to participate over the next six weeks. The first step is easy--just read through the guide with your singer(s) and make a plan!

Because tuition covers less than 40% of the total cost of participation, fundraising is a necessary part of MYC membership. We count on families to embrace their fundraising contribution goal each year to help cover the tuition gap. We'll be sending updated statements to families in the coming days so you have a snapshot of your fundraising progress to date.

Thank you for paying attention to your fundraising progress and participating in this campaign--please watch for the guide to come home with your singer this weekend and keep an eye on this space each week for reminders and tips!
