FIREFLIES

Did you know?

  • Fireflies are the Pennsylvania State insect!

  • They are commonly called "lightning bugs" in the state of Pennsylvania

  • Fireflies are among the many species that are bioluminescent, meaning that they can produce their own light.

  • Firefly light can be yellow, green or orange.

  • In some places at some times, fireflies synchronize their flashing.

  • Males that do glow use their flash to attract females. Each species has its own pattern of light flashing.

Dear --FNAME--,

Summer is wrapping up and we are ready for fall! Cooler temperatures may be coming, but that won't stop us from offering a wonderful variety of programs and events! Fall kicks off with Puddle Jumpers and Knee High Naturalists learning and exploring all that MMNC has to offer. But we left the adults out, learn all about the native plants around the Marsh and how to "Winterize Your Garden" this fall. And that's just the start, October and November will have exciting happenings, so check back for our next e-newsletter or visit www.MyMillbrookMarsh.org for details!
