Reserving Your Seat for Next Season:
Intention Forms Due April 29
Conductors will be spending a few minutes in rehearsals this weekend talking about our audition and placement process for next season as well as giving each singer their individualized intention/reservation form to be returned to MYC by April 29. The intention form and accompanying information sheet will also be delivered to parents via email early next week with reminders about spring audition dates and how to sign up. With many of our ensembles nearing their capacity, we want to make sure every current singer who wishes to continue with MYC has their seat reserved for next season BEFORE we hear any NEW singers audition. Seat reservations are made by returning the intention form along with a $50 tuition deposit to MYC by April 29. Deposits are fully refundable through July 12. Thank you for carefully reading through this information with your singer when it comes home this weekend and contacting us with any questions.

We're looking forward to a fabulous 2019-20 season and hope you will be a part of it!

    Legacy Choirs
As part of our exploration of legacy this semester, we're putting together two special choirs to vividly display this idea and sing on two separate concerts in May: a men's choir to sing with Purcell, Britten, Holst, and Ragazzi at the 7:30pm concert on Saturday, May 11; and a women's choir to sing with Choraliers, Con Gioia, Capriccio, Cantilena, and Cantabile on the 3:30pm concert on Sunday, May 12.

The Details for Men Who Like to Sing (and know a boychoir member):
This  Legacy Choir is for dads, older brothers, grandfathers, uncles, teachers, neighbors, and Madison Boychoir alumni--anyone who knows a boy in Purcell, Britten, Holst, or Ragazzi or who sang in the Boychoir themselves. You'll be singing "Day is Done" (Peter, Paul, and Mary folk song) and rehearsing on the following boychoir evenings:

    Monday, April 22  6:45-7:15pm*
    Monday, April 29  6:45-7:15pm*
    Monday, May 6    6:45-7:15pm*

*Purcell and Britten will rehearse until 7:15pm on these evenings.

Please sign up here, so we can plan for you! (This is actually required--we'll need to know who is participating in advance. Thanks!)

For Women Who Like to Sing (and know a girlchoir member):
This Legacy Choir is for mothers, grandmothers, aunts, special women in the lives of our singers--anyone who knows a singer in Choraliers, Con Gioia, Capriccio, Cantilena, or Cantabile or any alumni of an MYC girlchoir ensemble. This choir will be singing "Music in My Mother's House" by Stuart Stotts and will be rehearsing just one night with MYC:

      Sunday, May 5
5:00-5:30pm with Choraliers and Con Gioia
      OR
7:30-8:00pm with Capriccio*, Cantilena, and Cantabile

*Capriccio singers will rehearse until 8pm this evening.

      Spring Outreach Tours
It's time to get on the bus! Our spring outreach tour days are fast approaching (see calendar reminders below) and we are looking forward to performing for thousands of Dane County residents who have invited us to their school or retirement home.

      What Happens on Tour Day?
Singers meet at and depart from Westgate Mall around 8am and return around 3pm. Each ensemble travels by bus to four different venues throughout the day performing selections from their season repertoire for audience members who might not ever have the opportunity to attend one of our concerts. It's a tremendous day of making music, forging friendships, and building lasting memories together--this day is always remembered as a highlight of the MYC experience for our singers.

Each tour is a full day and we ask that you excuse your singer from school to participate in this important community outreach event. The dates have been published on your calendar since the beginning of the season and we assume each singer is participating as everyone is important to the ensemble: please make sure you have taken note of your singer's tour day and have communicated the absence to your school. If you need a written explanation for the absence, we have provided a brief description linked below.
