Reserving Your Seat for Next Season:
Intention Forms Due May 1
Intention forms for next season were distributed last week in rehearsals and also delivered to families via email earlier this week. The intention form serves as a seat reservation for next season and is due, along with a $50 tuition deposit, by May 1. With many of our ensembles nearing their capacity, we want to make sure every current singer who wishes to continue with MYC has their seat reserved for next season BEFORE we hear any NEW singers audition.

Audition reservations are handled separately via our website links and should be made only after the intention form and deposit have been submitted.

We're looking forward to a fabulous 2018-19 season and hope you will be a part of it!
Tuition and Fundraising Statements
Updated tuition and fundraising statements will be emailed this week to families who have had activity in the past month or who have an outstanding balance. As a reminder, the fundraising contribution goal may be met by writing a check for the amount remaining and this is considered a tax-deductible donation to MYC.  Thank you for paying attention to your progress toward raising $200!

Some of you may still be receiving It's MYChoir donations which we will continue to record on your fundraising statement. Thank you for submitting your donations to the MYC office as soon as possible--don't forget to include a donor record form for each donation you submit.
Hosting Opportunity: April 27/28
Con Gioia is sharing time with a visiting choir from Minnesota (CoMUSICation) as well Madison's Mt. Zion Baptist Church's youth choir the last weekend of April. MYC is providing host families for CoMUSICation singers on Friday, April 27, and we hope you will consider hosting! (Any MYC family may host--not just Con Gioia families). You can view the details and sign up using the link below. This is a great opportunity to show hospitality and make new (singing) friends from Minnesota!

Con Gioia: More details about the Saturday, April 28, afternoon/evening event will be shared next week.
Capriccio Sister Cities Event
As a reminder, Capriccio sings at the Sister Cities Collaboration Committee (SCCC) event on Saturday, April 14, at the MATC-Truax Campus.

Call time is 5:45pm; pick up time is 7:00pm. Singers should be dropped off and picked up at the Gateway Welcome Center.

This is a full concert wardrobe event--please make sure your singer arrives already dressed in their concert wardrobe. If you have an unavoidable conflict, thank you for letting us know via the online absence form.

We are looking forward to Capriccio representing Madison Youth Choirs at this significant shindig this weekend!
Spring Outreach Tours
It's time to get on the bus! Our spring outreach tour days are fast approaching (see calendar reminders below) and we are looking forward to performing for thousands of Dane County residents who have invited us to their school or retirement home.

What Happens on Tour Day?
Singers meet at and depart from Westgate Mall around 8am and return around 3pm. Specific itinerary details are still being finalized and will be shared next week.  Each ensemble travels by bus to four different venues throughout the day performing selections from their season repertoire for audience members who might not ever have the opportunity to attend one of our concerts. It's a tremendous day of making music, forging friendships, and building lasting memories together--this day is always remembered as a highlight of the MYC experience for our singers.

Each tour is a full day and we ask that you excuse your singer from school to participate in this important community outreach event. The dates have been published on your calendar since the beginning of the season and we assume each singer is participating as everyone is important to the ensemble: please make sure you have taken note of your singer's tour day and have communicated the absence to your school. If you need a written explanation for the absence, we have provided a brief description linked below.

Spring 2018 Tour Dates
Wednesday, April 25: Cantabile and Ragazzi
Thursday, April 26: Cantilena
Monday, April 30: Choraliers
Tuesday, May 1: Purcell and Holst | Con Gioia
Thursday, May 3: Britten
Friday, May 4: Capriccio

Want to ride along and lend a hand? Parent chaperones are needed for each tour. Please email Lisa Kjentvet with your interest.
Please Try On Your Concert Wardrobe!
The best time to do this is NOW so we have time to secure additional wardrobe before the May concert, if necessary. If you need to resize any items, please contact Ian. (If you were fitted in March, we are still working on pulling together your items!)
Our final ordering opportunity of the season will be in April with orders due by Monday, April 23. Families receive $5/unit sold toward their fundraising contribution goal.

MYC Flyers
Want to help us spread the word about how to join MYC? Do you want more families from your community/neighborhood to know about MYC? Is there a coffee shop, grocery store or other business you frequent where community flyers are displayed? We would love the extra help in posting our information throughout Dane County (and beyond).  Please help yourself to a flyer (or two or three) at the rehearsal table this weekend and post (with permission) in places visible to the public. Thank you for your help!
Run MadTown and Brat Fest Fundraising Opportunities
Both of these events take place Memorial Day Weekend and provide wonderful opportunities to raise money for Madison Youth Choirs (and make advanced progress toward your 2018-19 family fundraising contribution, i.e., NEXT season's goal for singers planning to return.)

Congratulations and Thank You!
Nearly $36,000 was raised with just half of our singers participating--thank you, singers and parents, for the enthusiasm you brought to this year's campaign. We appreciate everyone's effort--every letter and email, every phone call--thank you! To those participating for the first time--thank you for diving in with gusto!

Capriccio recorded the winning participation rate of 68% with Britten raising the most overall and the most per capita--just 22 singers raised over $8,300! Congratulations Capriccio and Britten!

We also want to recognize the impressive results of the following "top ten" individuals/siblings whose efforts in sharing their MYC stories beyond their immediate families resulted in donation totals ranging from $440 to $3,420! Congratulations and thank you for sharing widely your enthusiasm for MYC:

Elliot Fruit-Ross (Britten)
Zach Feltz (Ragazzi)
Sodik Gbadamassi (Holst)
Violet and Maddie Goscha (Con Gioia and Capriccio)
Claire Rattmann (Choraliers)
Omeed Soltaninassab (Ragazzi)
Flora and Ernst Stolzenburg (Capriccio and Ragazzi)
Sophie and Ellie Taylor (Cantilena and Cantabile)
Ben, Dan, and Emily Thom (Britten and Capriccio)
Aimon Van Houten (Britten)

Many of you still have donations coming in--we will continue to record your donations and keep you updated on your progress. Families can expect to receive updated tuition and fundraising statements within the next week. As a reminder, donations made to MYC, including those made toward meeting your family fundraising contribution goal, are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Thank you!
