Pre-Holy Week Worship
Pastors and deacons are invited to a service of Holy Communion on Thursday, April 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Iowa City. This yearly gathering is for the sake of nourishing the servants who regularly offer nourishment to the people of God. The service of Holy Communion will include the affirmation of vocational promises by pastors and deacons.

Time with colleagues also provides nourishment. So please consider remaining after worship for lunch at Christ the King. Lunch will be provided (free will donation). No RSVP is necessary.

Special thanks to Trinity Lutheran Church in Walford for tagging this great photo of their bag in action.

Send us your photos or tag them online so that we can share at Synod Assembly and beyond. We want to see all the tangible ways our faith communities are using their bags!

Send photos directly to or tag #SEIABag on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Spring and summer bring severe weather and flooding to some regions of our nation. Pray that congregations, neighbors and communities will work together to create disaster-response plans and will gather resources to share in the event of a disaster. Pray for the safety and well-being of those who face the impact of storms, and give thanks for the work of Lutheran Disaster Response, faith-based agencies and other organizations as they bring care, hope and healing to our neighbors in need.
