A Warm Welcome to our New MYC Families!
Between mid-season auditions and our graduating fall introductory choir classes MYC is welcoming over 40 NEW singers to our performing choirs this January! New faces will be at each rehearsal this weekend--please give them a smile and a warm welcome.

Rehearsal Reminders
Please bring to rehearsal your 1" black binder for music, a pencil (sharpened) and a water bottle if you think you'll need a drink during rehearsal. Rehearsals begin promptly and a lot happens in the first few minutes--thank you for planning ahead and being on time!
Because Westgate Mall is a public space, we recommend you park your car and walk with your younger singer to and from our rehearsal studios. Singers are encouraged to wait upstairs (where there is MYC staff) if a ride is going to be delayed.

The rehearsal table is staffed from 3:45 to 7:45pm on Sundays and 5:15 to 8pm on Mondays.  We suggest that if you have something to drop off or pick up that you do this BEFORE your rehearsal begins so you don't miss your opportunity.
The Big Red Box on the rehearsal table may be used for making tuition payments, turning in forms, etc.

Madison Boychoir Festival
Members of Purcell, Britten, Holst and Ragazzi play host to hundreds of fellow singers from all over Madison and southern Wisconsin at our 6th Annual Madison Boychoir Festival on Saturday, January 30. Please be reminded:

  • This is on your MYC calendar;
  • it's a required event (please plan ahead!);
  • we need to hear from you via the on-line absence form if you have an immovable, unavoidable conflict;
  • MYC singers DO NOT need to register; we are already planning you will be participating (see above!)
  • Boychoir arrives at West High School at 8:45am and finishes around 1:15pm. The FREE, public concert showcasing the festival's 400 participants begins at 12:30pm.

This is not only an amazing day for our singers and the community; it's an amazing day filled with logistical victories made possible by our excellent volunteers--YOU! Please consider joining us!
Request for Photos
As we prepare to send final reports to our concert sponsors and begin planning for future press releases and grant applications, we would love to start collecting any good quality photos you may have taken of our Winter Concert rehearsals and performances. Your photography work really helps us tell the story of MYC's accomplishments to the community, and we are so grateful for the photo contributions you've made so far this year. We will be sure to credit you for any photos we use in publications or grant reports. Please send photos to Nicole. Thank you!

Concert Recordings
Ordering information for concert cds can be found inside your December concert program (page 37) or by visiting the website of our recording partner Audio for the Arts.
Coffee and Tea Orders Due Next Thursday
For those of you wishing to replenish your caffeine stock, orders are due on Thursday, January 14 with delivery one week later on Friday, January 22.

Spring Introductory Choir
For students ages 7-10, new sessions of introductory choir begin mid-February and registration is now open on our website under the Join A Choir tab. Completing introductory choir is the first step toward joining a year-long choir for singers this age.
Weather Cancellation Reminders
With winter back in full force in Wisconsin, please be reminded that we will publish rehearsal cancellations on our Facebook page, website, via email to MYC families, and through the Remind text alert system (you can use the link in the header section to sign up.) We are aware that our families travel from all over southern Wisconsin to attend rehearsals so we encourage you to make your decision to travel based on the conditions where YOU live even if we have not canceled rehearsal based on conditions in Madison. We want everyone to be safe! As always, if your singer is going to be absent, please let us know via the on-line absence form.
