TAO's Outreach

Training.  Advocacy.  Outreach.
TAO artists facilitate opportunities for creative self-expression through the arts, for people who have special needs and who are in congregate care settings. We work to help interested artists understand what the needs are and how they can be effective in helping their program participants find their voices.  When participants are actively engaged in the creative process, magic happens.  Socialization, stimulation, inspiration, emotion - the gifts of compassion and creativity can be tremendous.  We are incredibly grateful to the artists who bring so much talent and beauty to the people served through  our programs.

Music intervention offers help for troubled families

A new study shows music intervention offers help for troubled families.  This article describes how music therapy helps bring families closer together, through activities like playing instruments together, listening and discussing music.  For years, TAO has brought “Mommy and Me” music and arts programs to families at area shelters, as a way to empower parents with low-cost, effective ways to create quality time with their children.  - read more -
