Pipeline Tax - Energy Bill vs. DPU Dockets

Unfortunately, after Wednesday's vote in the Massachusetts house neither Amendment #27 of the Energy Bill (H3477) or other amendments moving to ban a tax on electric bills to fund pipeline capacity passed in the vote.

This means that it’s more important than ever for us to oppose the requests to the DPU from  electric companies Eversource and National Grid to charge a pipeline tax on their customers’ utility bills.

PLEASE JOIN US TUESDAY, JUNE 14 for the DPU Hearing on these dockets at the Berkshire Athenaeum and for the stand-out rally

National Grid and Eversource are still pressing on with their request to the MA DPU for permission to charge their electric ratepayers and extra tariff to cover their costs for pipeline capacity contracts, aka "The Pipeline Tax".

The Mass. DPU has scheduled a 3rd public comment hearing for Pittsfield concerning DPU docket no. 16-05, the proposed National Grid contract on Access Northeast and DPU docket no. 15-181, the proposed Eversource contract.

"The Department will conduct a third public hearing to receive comments on the Companies’ petition:

CT Expansion - Spectacle Pond Paddle for a Purpose, June 25

A critical-mass paddle of kayakers, canoeists, and stand up paddlers on Lower Spectacle Pond in Otis State Forest in Sandisfield, where the CT Expansion pipeline project is slated to go an area protected by our State Constitution.

This is to raise awareness of what is at stake if this project goes through and to raise funds for the legal fight. This project is a high stakes issue, even though small. Kinder Morgan wants to use Federal Law to preempt our State Constitution in what could be a precedent setting action.

If donating isn’t in your budget, please, just show up. Let’s make this issue visible and show we care! You don't need to paddle to attend, either!
