CHRIST CHAPEL'S YEAR IN REVIEW

Didn't We Just Start 2018?

The pace of campus ministry is such that it seems a semester gets started and then is over, but a few things stood out in 2018....

Lunch Program Grows
Taking turns with our friends from the UCM, Christ Chapel provides a lunch on Mondays to hungry students.  The numbers each week ranged from 80 to 135.  Every week gave us a new chance to practice hospitality in Jesus' name, and almost every week we hear, "Thank you. I wasn't sure I was going to eat today."

Servants of the Cross: Christ Chapel's Order for Students in Ministry
For students who want to explore their faith more deeply, there is our program called Servants of the Cross.  Unique to Christ Chapel, Servants of the Cross is a three-semester course that includes the study of Scripture, catechetical instruction, spirituality, and leadership.  Ally Schlandt completed all three semesters in November and was commissioned as member of the order in December, as was Kelley Cato.

Food and Faith Series Launched
A Bible study that connects the text with a dish; Galatians and Guacamole, for example, wherein we made tableside-style guacamole to enjoy while reading Paul's letter.  Next semester: Parables and Pizza

Our Usual Events...
God Goes to the Movies, Game Nights, serving supper to the homeless of San Marcos every month, retreats, and, of course, worship on Wednesday nights, Sunday nights, and Thursdays at noon.

Some Changes...
Marshall Breedlove and Chelsea Frosch got married, as did Zoey Schwartz and Joseph Morse.  Graduates included the same Joseph Morse, Zach Burkhalter, Ciara Horn, and Chelsea Breedlove, who received her Masters in Social Work. Alum news includes the ordination into the Diaconate of the Episcopal Church our own Andrew Green; he will be ordained a priest in January. Tyler Watson was shaken, but not harmed by the earthquake in Anchorage. Melissa (Hoffman) Palacios and Jessica Green both gave birth to adorable babies.

And Then There's You!
All of these things have happened and so much more because of people who care. Some of you have been regular supporters of the ministry, some have kept us in prayer, some have thought about making a gift, but haven't had a moment to do so.  If you gotten this far, you're only a moment away from being able to offer your support. Click on this link: https://www.christchapeltxstate.org/, then scroll to the bottom where you will find a button to make an end of the year donation. And thank you!
