Greetings!

By the time you receive this newsletter, Marie & I will be on our way to San Jose for the 218th General Assembly. Please pray for us and for the whole PPL team as we bring to the assembly the good news of God's great love for every human life!

We'd like to bring your attention to a wonderful ministry that is growing rapidly across the nation.  Carolina Perinatal Support Network, and other organizations like it, was established to "provide a bridge of support for families experiencing an adverse prenatal diagnosis that will likely result in a preborn or newborn death." Our Associate Director had the pleasure of meeting the director, Tammy Tate, and RN in Greenville, SC at a conference in 2007 and was very impressed with the compassion and love for not only the families but for the precious little babies. Check out this website for more information: http://www.carolinaperinatal.com/welcome.php

PPL is on our way to San Jose!
With General Assembly less than a week away, the preparation is daunting!  There are copies to be made, boxes to be mailed, strategies to be planned, reports to read, and hope to be had in all of this.  That is where you, our partners, can help. We desperately need prayer support for PPL and our GA team.

PPL is focusing on five specific issues of business at GA.  They are:
Overtures 10-03 (Pittsburgh Presbytery) and  10-04 (Beaver-Butler Presbytery) - Both of these overtures call for fair and equal funding and advocacy regarding both the pro-life and pro-choice position.  Currently, there is no advocacy for a pro-life view of abortion.
Overture 15-01 (Central Nebraska Presbytery)- Asks the Board of Pensions to expand the Definition of Medical Necessity to Include Habilitative Services for Children with Congenital Developmental Disabilities. This is an inclusion of coverage that is needed for children who have Down Syndrome, Autism and similar special conditions that require medical therapies so that them may reach their full potential.

Overture 15-02 (Pittsburgh Presbytery) - Would direct the Board of Pensions to Provide a Relief of Conscience Plan Report Annually. This overture would require the BOP to disclose via annual report, how the capturing of ROC and Non-ROC dues is administered while making sure there is accountability for the ROC process.
Overture 12-08 ( Grace Presbytery) - If approved will direct the GAC to Produce Adolescent Human Development Resources.  Previous attempts to write a curriculum on sexuality for young people in our church have resulted in materials that did not uphold the values of marriage between one man and one woman and chastity in singleness.

Overture 04-08 (Baltimore Presbytery) - Would Amend W-4.9000 regarding the definition of marriage. This overture wants to replace the wording of "between a woman and man" to "between two people."

PPL's witness at GA is crucial for the preservation of the pro-life position in our denomination. The commissioners, YADS, TSADS, and GA staff need prayer to seek discernment and God's will for his church while glorifying Him in all that we do.

Our partner churches have been faithful in their support.  PPL would be grateful for additional financial support to help us  effectively witness at GA.  Please prayerfully consider helping us with this urgent ministry need.  Grace and peace be with you!

Prayer Request

Pray for safe travel for the PPL team and staff and for commissioners coming to the General Assembly.

Pray that God will be glorified in the decisions made at this assembly and that a spirit of repentance and renewal will sweep over this gathering.

May Jesus Christ be praised!

Yours in Christ,

Laureen Bodnar

Praise Him!
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.

I praise you , for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
