Tallinn Boys Choir Visit Details | January 5-6, 2020

Hello Purcell, Britten, Holst, and Ragazzi Families!
The Tallinn Boys Choir from Estonia will be arriving in Madison on Sunday, January 5. We are so fortunate to have this amazing opportunity to not only host them but to be in concert with them! We have finalized many details about their visit and wish to share those with you now so you can be planning ahead since the timing coincides with the end of MMSD's winter break and before MYC resumes regular rehearsals. (More on that below!)

Shared Rehearsal and Concert Details
On Monday afternoon, January 6, Purcell, Britten, Holst, and Ragazzi will join our Tallinn friends for a shared rehearsal and exchange of songs and smiles. Dinner and an evening concert follow our rehearsal together. (This event has been added to your calendar. Please complete the online absence form if you have an immovable, unavoidable conflict.)

Here are the details:
Monday, January 6, 2020 | Good Shepherd Lutheran Church | 5701 Raymond Road
4:30pm call time for Purcell, Britten, Holst, and Ragazzi | rehearse/sing with Tallinn Boys Choir
6:00pm Dinner at Good Shepherd (see below)
7:30pm concert | Free and open to the public

Singers should arrive at Good Shepherd on Monday afternoon in their concert wardrobe (there won't be time to change). Parents are welcome to stay and enjoy the rehearsal exchange (volunteer to help with dinner, etc.!) Space will be very limited for our dinner together. MYC parents choosing to stay through the rehearsal and dinner time are encouraged to sign up to help with dinner. Thank you for understanding that we aren't able to accommodate parents sitting down with our singers for the meal time.

Dinner
We will be providing pizza and are requesting donations of fruit, vegetables, or dessert to help round out the meal. We will also welcome many parent volunteers to set up, serve, and host the meal time. Thanks for using the sign up below to reserve your food contribution and/or to volunteer your time.

Overnight Hosting
Thank you for considering this opportunity to provide hospitality to our guests! In addition to the boys choir (ages 11-21), there are several adult chaperones in the group along with the conductors and accompanists. The entire group ranges in age from 11-72! You may be assigned a grouping of just adults or a combination of adults and children. Hosting provides additional layers of meaningful memories for our MYC community--thanks for opening your home and extending your hospitality to these travelers.

From Sunday, January 5, through Tuesday morning January 7, hosts provide:
  • a place to sleep for two nights;
  • dinner on Sunday;
  • breakfast on Monday and Tuesday morning,
  • packed sack lunches for Monday and Tuesday
  • transportation between Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (our designated meeting spot) and your home (see bottom for draft schedule).
