Camp for Stroke Survivors
Mercy Medical Center, in conjunction with Siouxland Stroke Support Network, is looking for stroke survivors for a "Retreat and Refresh Stroke Camp" the weekend of September 16-18, 2016. This camp is a unique way to bring stroke survivors and their families together for a weekend of support and desperately needed education, fun and respite.
Camp will be held at Inspiration Hills Camp, outside of Inwood, Iowa. This location was carefully chosen, with help from the Associate Director of Retreat & Refresh Stroke Camp, due to their hotel-style private rooms and relaxing camp atmosphere. The hotel-style private rooms are a must for stroke survivor privacy. The mission of Retreat & Refresh Stroke Camp is to improve the quality of life for stroke survivors, caregivers, and their families. This is accomplished through weekend retreats, as well as community stroke education and awareness events for the public. More info here!

We Are Church Together!
How will people know?
In her September column for Living Lutheran, ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton wonders how people will learn about the ELCA Churchwide Assembly and how we will make the event’s actions and experiences part of our life together. She says the work belongs to all of us—participants and those who watched the event online or read about it in Living Lutheran. Read her column here!
Quad Synod Retreat
An unprecedented retreat with 4 synod Bishop's and their staff from 3 regions of the ELCA. Coming together to explore the possibilities of being Church together. We are doing some "holy dreaming". (Western Iowa Synod, South Dakota Synod, Nebraska Synod, and Central- States Synod) - by Jennifer Prinz, Portico Rep

A very beneficial 48 hours together in Nebraska City, NE!! We worshipped together, talked about the Wholeness Wheel, participated in an activity to see how we were doing with our personal wellness, used affinity groups as a tool for discussion, met our counterparts from the other synods, networked, and overall was Spiritually filled and renewed in the work that we do! The retreat was led by two of our Portico Reps, Jennifer Prinz and Theresa Endres. Thank you to these ladies and the rest of the planning team!
