Update: "Made in USA" Legislation
New Bill regarding Made in USA introduced to Congress
"Reinforcing American-Made Products Act of 2015"
On June 4, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) introduced the "Reinforcing American-Made Products Act of 2015" (S. 1518).
This bill reserves the determination of "Made in USA" product labeling qualifications to the Federal Government, superseding any State laws regarding "Made in USA" labeling requirements.
If passed, there would be one nationwide standard for "Made in USA" qualification, eliminating confusion among manufacturers and consumers over what constitutes American-made goods.
Federal requirements for "Made in USA" dictate that a product be "all or virtually all" made in the United States, with no or negligible foreign content.
