In Light of COVID-19
Like all of you, we are working hard to stay informed on the rapidly developing events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. We have spent the last two days with little else on our minds and with the weight of making decisions that inevitably impact lives beyond our beloved MYC community--a community comprised of members from across southern Wisconsin. The CDC has identified social distancing as a key component in slowing the spread of this disease. For this reason, and in the interest of contributing to a healthier outcome for our entire community, especially the most vulnerable among us, MYC will be suspending all rehearsals until mid April. We will continue to send the Weekly Notes each Thursday with updates and we hope that rehearsals will resume April 19/20. (We had already scheduled to be off during MMSD spring break and Easter Sunday on March 29/30 and April 12.) We are working on a plan for conductors and singers to stay engaged with each other and with the music we're studying. Details on that will be shared next week.

We want you to know that we make this decision not from a place of fear or panic, but from a place of sincere desire to do everything within our power to be part of the solution in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Above all, we want you to know that we consider rehearsal time with our singers--your singers--to be the highlight of our week and we will miss it in a profound way that speaks to the power of the work we do together. Even though we won't be together physically, the shared experiences of exploring music and ideas we've had together this semester will undoubtedly be a balm for all of us in these extraordinary weeks ahead. Let's continue to support one another with hopeful empathy, courage, and resilience as we navigate the days ahead.

The It's MYChoir Campaign is still in full swing and there are additional items of which to be aware highlighted below. Thank you for reading this email in its entirety!

It's Really Not too Late to Start!
Thank you to everyone who is participating and sharing their MYC enthusiasm with the wider community. Now, more than ever, the myriad ways music is a companion with us through troublesome times should be celebrated and shared. Consider what MYC and the music you've studied means to you and share that with someone who will benefit from hearing your story!

Choraliers is still leading the participation race at a robust 51% with Cantilena and Holst at 26% and 25% respectively.

Say thank you! This is so important! MYC is also providing a thank you along with a receipt but a note from you is the most meaningful.

Quick Reminders:
A donor record form is required for all donations made by check. It's easiest for all if donations are made online via the button on the IMC webpage--no donor form required for online donations as all the information is collected electronically. Don't forget to include the link if you're sending an email!

If you are starting a Facebook fundraiser please follow the specific instructions we provided in the Family Guide (also linked on our website).

Not sure whether to use a letter, email or Facebook appeal?
Consider your audience. You know them best.
Because tuition covers less than 50% of the total cost of participation, fundraising is a necessary part of MYC membership. We count on families to embrace their contribution goal each year to help cover the tuition gap. Updated statements were emailed to families last week--thank you for paying attention to your fundraising progress, setting a goal, and participating!
