Congratulations and Thank You!
We did it! When everything is counted, we will have exceeded our goal of raising $40K--the most we've ever raised through It's MYChoir! Thank you, singers and parents, for the enthusiasm you brought to this year's campaign. We appreciate everyone's effort--every letter and email, every phone call--thank you! To those participating for the first time--thank you for diving in with enthusiasm. We look forward to building on this momentum next year!

For the second year in a row, Choraliers recorded the winning participation rate of 83% with Purcell raising the most per capita at $184 (27 singers raised just over $7K). Congratulations and thank you to Choraliers and Purcell!

We want to recognize the impressive results of the following individuals/siblings whose recorded donations ranged from $520 to $3,500 (highest total ever)! Congratulations and thank you to:

Susannah and Sarah Bennett (Con Gioia and Capriccio)
Nikole Bolha (Con Gioia)
Alli Ferrigno (Capriccio)
Liam Forrest (Ragazzi)
Elliot Fruit-Ross (Purcell)
Marcus Graham (Ragazzi)
Ethan Staver (Holst)
Emily, Ben and Dan Thom (Capriccio and Purcell)
Aimon Van Houten (Britten)

Many of you still have donations coming in--thank you! We will continue to record your donations and keep you updated on your progress. Families can expect to receive updated tuition and fundraising statements after spring break. As a reminder, donations made to MYC, including those made toward meeting your family fundraising contribution goal, are tax-deductible.

Thank you!

Please Try On Your Concert Wardrobe!
The best time to do this is NOW so we have time to secure additional wardrobe before the May concert, if necessary. If you need to resize any items, please contact Alyssa. (She will be in the office next week just Monday-Wednesday.)

Spring Outreach Tours
It's time to get on the bus! Our spring outreach tour days are fast approaching (see calendar reminders below) and we are looking forward to performing for thousands of Dane County residents who have invited us to their school or retirement home.

What Happens on Tour Day?
Singers meet at and depart from Westgate Mall around 8am and return around 3pm. Specific itinerary details for each choir are linked below. Each ensemble travels by bus to four different venues throughout the day performing selections from their season repertoire for audience members who might not ever have the opportunity to attend one of our concerts. It's a tremendous day of making music, forging friendships, and building lasting memories together--this day is always remembered as a highlight of the MYC experience for our singers.

Each tour is a full day and we ask that you excuse your singer from school to participate in this important community outreach event. The dates have been published on your calendar since the beginning of the season and we assume each singer is participating as everyone is important to the ensemble: please make sure you have taken note of your singer's tour day and have communicated the absence to your school. If you need a written explanation for the absence, we have provided a brief description linked below.

Tour Dates and Itineraries
Wednesday, April 26: Cantabile and Ragazzi
Thursday, April 27: Cantilena
Monday, May 1: Choraliers
Tuesday, May 2: Purcell and Holst | Con Gioia
Thursday, May 4: Britten
Friday, May 5: Capriccio

Want to ride along and lend a hand? Parent chaperones are needed for each tour. Please email Lisa Kjentvet with your interest.

Heartland Youth Choir Visits in June
The Heartland Youth Choir from Des Moines, Iowa will perform an evening concert on Tuesday, June 13, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Middleton. Con Gioia will be joining them in song and we are looking forward to an amazing night of music and new friendships!

Con Gioia: Please check your calendars and let us know via the absence form if you have a conflict.

Would you like to host singers from the Heartland Youth Choir? We are in need of families to provide home stays for 58 singers (21 boys and 37 girls in 5th through 8th grade) following the concert through breakfast on Wednesday morning. Please consider opening your home to host two or more singers overnight on Tuesday, June 13.

All MYC families are invited to host!

Special Invitation to Capriccio, Cantilena, Cantabile, Britten and Holst Trebles
We are looking for treble singers from these ensembles to participate in a great project with our good friends at Opera for the Young. This amazing organization presents shortened versions of classic operas (sung in English with the stories given a modern "twist").

Opera for the Young sends teaching materials and a tutorial CD to schools prior to their performances each year. We have been asked to record the choruses for the tutorial CD for next season's tour of Rusalka. We are looking for a group of singers who can commit to two rehearsals and the recording day. Here are the details:

Rehearsals at Westgate Studios (Studio 4)
Tuesday, April 25, 6:15-7:30pm
Tuesday, May 2, 6:15-7:30pm

Recording Date (Location TBD)
Saturday, May 6, 1:00PM - 2:30PM

Please RSVP to Lisa Kjentvet with your singer's name and choir if you are interested and available for both rehearsals and the recording date. We may not have room for every singer that volunteers and will build the roster based on the needs of Opera for the Young. Once you volunteer we assume you have checked the dates and can commit to 100% participation. Lisa will confirm each participant once the list is final--thank you for your patience!
