Welcome to our Question of the Week Email!
Monday, February 12, 2018
Dear --FNAME--,

Let me say this upfront: it's not my intention that the Question of the Week email should become a "sales email."  I don't want you to see my email in your Inbox and think, "Oh, what's John trying to sell me this week?"  The intent of the QOTW email is to educate you in some area of the computing world and to inform you of upcoming seminars, webinars, etc. In truth, in all of 2016 and 2017, I shared a special computing deal just four times.  Today, though, I'm sharing a laptop special for the third time since January 1, 2018.  For some reason, there have been a ton of special deals in January and now in February.  Unlike the auto industry, the computer world doesn't have a specific time of the year for new models to appear and old models to be "dumped."  But, right now, since the deals have been good, I've passed them on to you.  So, please forgive me for "selling" in this email.

If you live on the Treasure Coast, we have a live seminar this Saturday.  Please see all the info below.

Have a great week.

Indulge in Hershey's!
Many of you know that for 43 years, I lived within aroma distance of the Hershey Chocolate Factory in Hershey, PA.  In fact, you might even know that one of my password phrases is "I love Hershey's chocolate!"  Well, Easter is coming and in the secular realm of the holiday, we associate chocolate.  Click on the banner above and get something sweet!

Question of the Week

Question:  "I have elderly parents and I need to keep my smartphone on at night in case there's an issue.  But, I don't want to be disturbed by other people or my texts or other messages.  What can I do?"

Answer:  This is a great smartphone question!  We've known some people who have just turned off their phones and night and then worried that nothing bad would happen to their loved ones.

In the three major smartphone platforms, there is a feature that allows you to control what notifications you get during specific hours (which you set).  You can also list exceptions, so that makes this task easy!

On Android phones, the feature you want is called Downtime.  You can allow certain people to get through to you by setting Priority Interruptions.

On iPhones, the feature you want is Do Not Disturb.  Just like the Android phones, you can set exceptions to the rules.

Windows Phone (And, actually, on Windows 10 machines)
On Windows Phones, the feature is called Quiet Hours and you can allow certain callers through using the Inner Circle.

If you need instructions to set this up on your smartphone, let me know and I'll send instructions your way.
