Upcoming Events


Wednesdays at 2:00 PM. Being Church: Weekly Online Gathering for ELCA Leaders. You are invited to join this weekly online gathering designed to provide encouragement and support for ELCA leaders across the church. View the Zoom invitation. Participants will hear topical presentations related to how we are called to be Church, as well as have an opportunity to be in small group discussions with an ELCA group coach facilitating the conversation. You can find a list of upcoming topics and presenters on the home page of our website: https://www.elcacoaching.org. October 16 & 18, 23-24. Assembly 2020: “We Are Church Together.” This year’s Assembly will be held online, including the election of a new bishop. For more information, please visit the Assembly 2020 page on the synod website at http://nepasynod.org/assembly-2020/.


October 17. We Love… From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, we will offer workshops for congregational leaders to learn how to help their congregations be more welcoming to LGBTQIA+ individuals & families. The event itself is donation only (recommended between $0 and $20). All donations will be split between Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center, LGBT Center of Greater Reading, and Queer NEPA. November 10 & 11. Growing Young in a Changing World Virtual Summit. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to help our synod be more welcoming and engaging to the youth and young people in our midst. Jake Mulder from the Fuller Youth Institute will lead us through multiple sessions as we engage the Growing Young concepts and create plans forward for our churches and mission districts. ALL synod church staff, rostered ministers and members are welcomed and encouraged to attend. The cost is $40 per person. Click here for more information and to register.


January 23, 2021. Learning Ministries Day 2021 is Going On-Line! Plan to join us Saturday January 23, 2021 when our keynote speaker will be Dr. Barbara Rossing, author of "The Rapture Exposed." Dr. Rossing will speak on "Journeys Through Revelation," and a number of workshops will be offered as well. More details to follow, so please check the synod website for more information.

► Karen Blitch, wife of David Blitch (Salem Belleman's, Mohrsville; upsygrad@msn.com), is receiving treatment for cancer and other multiple health issues.

► Dan Brettell (St. Paul III, Easton; pastordanbrettell@ptd.net) and his wife, Patti’s 7 month-old granddaughter, Sabella Brettell, has been diagnosed with adrenocortical carcinoma which requires surgery and chemotherapy.

► Harry Goos (retired; rhgoos@comcast.net) is receiving physical rehabilitation after a fall.

► Robert Hughes (retired; hughesrobertg@gmail.com) is receiving chemotherapy while battling cancer.

► Dee Kistler, wife of David Kistler (retired: davedeek@gmail.com), is recovering from a broken ankle.

► Diane Laine, wife of Larry Laine (Trinity, Bangor; laineparallel@gmail.com) is dealing several health related issues.

► Valerie Reinhold (reited; 4revmomm@gmail.com) is recovering at home after a week in the hospital dealing with heart issues.

► Tom Richards (retired; masterpastor@verizon.net) is recovering from eye surgery.

► Sandy Richards, wife of Tom Richards (retired; masterpastor@verizon.net), is dealing with a variety of health issues.

► Luther Routte (retired) is recuperating at home after heart surgery.

► Nancy (“Gidget”) Schwartz (wife of Don Schwartz, St. Andrew, Summit Lawn; dj1743schwartz19@yahoo.com) is now home from the hospital and is receiving out-patient treatments for cancer.


Durrell Seip (retired; durrellseip87@gmail.com) and his wife, Lois. Both are dealing with ongoing health issues.

Lutheran Disaster Response has financially supported 49 efforts led by companion churches and organizations in 35 countries. “As a member of the Lutheran World Federation, it is important that we walk with our global companions,” said the Rev. Allegheny, Mohnton seeks a Director of Christian Education who will play a unique role in the lives of children and adults at Allegheny Evangelical Lutheran Church. Working alongside a team led by the Lead Pastor, the Director’s primary role is to oversee and organize Faith Formation activities for all ages. Candidates need to have a strong, well-developed faith in Christ along with exceptional interpersonal, teaching, and leadership skills. Ideal candidates will also bring a servant’s heart to those AELC is called to serve. The position requires more than three years of experience in a church setting. P/T Organist, Director of Vocal and Bell Choirs (10-1)

Allegheny, Mohnton seeks an Organist and Choir Director who will oversee the traditional music ministries of the church in cooperation with the pastor. The music leader will organize adult choir, bell choirs, and special music as needed and warranted to engage and inspire Christian faith beliefs through music. We are looking for someone to partner with us in this role. The Organist and Choir Director with also work with our Praise Team leader and other staff members to support the congregation. This is a part-time position (approximately 15-20 hours per week). Compensation will be based upon experience. /T Interim Youth Ministry Leader (9-1)

to Emmanuel, Bath, seeks an Interim Youth Ministry Leader. Candidate will coordinate, direct, and facilitate Sunday School and youth group events via internet or in person based on safety of the youth. He/she will be able to assist our youth in growing their faith in Jesus Christ. This includes curriculum design and teacher development to complete these tasks. Candidate will meet bi-weekly with the Pastor to review his/her curriculum and planning ideas. Candidate may. assist Pastor with confirmation events if requested and fits into the weekly allowance of hours. Candidate must communicate with the secretary on the following months' plans by the 20th of the current calendar month. Candidate must have a commitment to Jesus Christ with a clear understanding of the Lutheran perspective of the Christian faith and willingness to adhere to ELCA doctrine and practices. Formal education in theology and/or education is preferred. Candidate should be organized, show excellent communication skills, and be motivating to the youth of our congregation. Background check and appropriate clearances are required. Work hours will be 10-13 hours per week with a monthly stipend of $834 and 2 weeks vacation. Candidate will present a weekly summary of his/her hours to the secretary with a brief description of tasks he/she worked on. Due to the current limitations with COVID-19, candidate should be able to work remotely unless otherwise requested by the Pastor or HR committee. New Hanover, Gilbertsville, seeks a Director of Music Ministry, who is the principal musician of the congregation. He/she is responsible for coordinating the orders of service and liturgical music with the Pastor as well as selecting hymns for all services. This position selects and rehearses choral music for the vocal choirs – (2) children’s and (2) adults – as well as coordinates with the Handbell Choir Director and the GRACE Praise Band leader to develop a welcoming and inclusive God centered atmosphere for all generations. Trinity, Topton seeks a part-time church office administrator, 20 hours a week. Responsible for day-to-day operations of the congregation and facility. Supports the Pastor, Staff and Council and is normally the first point of contact for church matters. Maintains church calendars. recruits and schedules volunteers. Coordinates community groups use of church facilities.Ensures timely production, final edit and distribution of weekly worship service bulletin and monthly newsletter. Orders and maintains supplies and ensures proper maintenance of all office equipment for the operation of church’s administrative functions. Maintains both hard copy and electronic copies of church documents. Maintenance of the church website and FaceBook page is optional. Financial duties include staff payroll, payment of invoices, congregation’s checkbook register and recording offerings and maintaining congregational giving records. Maintains church’s on-line giving site. Maintains church member database and prepares congregational reports. Holy Spirit Christian Nursery School (at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit in Emmaus, PA) is seeking two preschool teachers and one teacher’s aide for the 2020-2021 school year. The positions are part-time. Teacher candidates need a degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education and must be someone who loves working with young children along with strong collaboration skills. Requirements for the teacher aide are a love of young children and their learning, experience volunteering and/or working with your children, and strong collaboration skills.
