Faith Formation Focus of Tri-Synod Fall Conference

"A couple of good days in Des Moines with 65 pastors from Western Iowa," noted Bishop Lorna H. Halaas of the Tri-Synod Fall Conference, held Sept. 22-24 in West Des Moines. "Good things are happening as we look to the future of the ELCA...with a positive spirit," Bishop Halaas added.
The conference theme centered on faith formation as the mission of the church.

Conference workshop sessions included these Faith Formation topics:
  • Proclaiming Good News (Faith Formation as forming others to receive, trust, share)
  • Proclaiming Good News in Public (Faith formation as a public act)
  • Proclaiming Good News in Public Together (Faith formation as an inter-generational, congregational endeavor)
  • Proclaiming Good News in Public Together in New Ways (Faith formation as innovation and risk-taking)
The event was open to pastors, deacons and congregational program staff in Northeastern, Southeastern and Western Iowa Synods.
